Enjoy four of the very best from John Woo, the master of balletic bullet-storms, at Showroom Cinema.

📽️ All Killer, No Filler: A John Woo Marathon | Sat 25 Jul
🎟️ https://showroomcinema.org.uk/festivals/all-killer-no-filler-a-john-woo-marathon

Our marathon opens with Bullet in the Head (12.30), Woo's ferocious Vietnam-era epic and perhaps his most personal film, following three friends whose brotherhood is torn apart by war and greed.

Next comes A Better Tomorrow (15.30), screening in its 40th anniversary year: the film that reinvented Hong Kong cinema overnight, made Chow Yun-fat a superstar, and gave the world heroic bloodshed.

The Killer (17.30) follows, Woo's operatic masterpiece of doves, duty and doomed honour.

We finish in style with Hard Boiled (20.15) in a stunning 4K restoration, home to the some of the greatest sustained action filmmaking ever put on screen.

For the best value, we recommend purchasing a day pass for all four films - Adult day pass: £28 (£7 per film), Student day pass: £24 (£6 per film), or CINE26 day pass: £20 (£5 per film).

Before she was one of the most distinctive voices in animation, Marjane Satrapi was a young girl in Tehran, watching history reshape her country.

She turned that childhood into a comic, and then a Cannes Jury Prize winner: Persepolis, still one of the most striking and tender coming-of-age stories put to screen.

Celebrate the life of Marjane Satrapi with us, at a tribute screening of her brilliant debut feature. This screening has no ads and trailers, and will begin with an in-person introduction.

📽️ Persepolis [+ Intro - Marjane Satrapi Tribute] (12A) | Sat 18 Jul @ 14.00

Tickets £6 for Showroom Members as part of Showroom Paradiso.

Tgirls Make Music puts htmljones (Ishaani Ponniah) — trans woman rapper and producer — front and centre, tracing her story through a wild mashup of early-2000s TV, 2010s internet culture, and modern British life.

At its heart is an intimate interview with Ishaani, hosted by director Lucy Rose Shaftain-Fenner on the fictional T4T Network. Cut like a talk show, threaded through with live performances, and peppered with riotous ad bumpers made through claymation, pixel art, VHS glitch, and ASCII art; the film treats trans history not as something fixed, but as lived, messy, and still being written.

You can follow the short with I Saw the TV Glow, a modern q***r cult film about two teenagers whose lives become tangled up with a supernatural TV show called The Pink Opaque. See it ahead of Jane Schoenbrun's new film Teenage S*x and Death at Camp Miasma, out this August.
