This year’s LUMI Award at Docs Ireland was won by Niamh Barry’s Something In The Air 🏆

The LUMI Award is given to the short film that our jury of LUMI Programmers deem to be the most relevant to young people or innovative in how it has been made.

Something In The Air was chosen from the competition shorts as our jury felt that the timely, interwoven messages about Raychel’s lived experience as transgender storm chaser and the changing climate spoke beautifully and effectively to young audiences.

Opportunity: NISF Young Film Programmer 🎬

The NI Science Festival is looking for two early-career film programmers to help shape a region-wide programme of enhanced science-focused film screenings for the 2027 festival (10–21 February 2027).

Supported by Film Hub N.I. this opportunity will bring science-themed cinema into community venues, rural spaces, and local film clubs across Northern Ireland — using film as a way to spark curiosity, conversation, and new perspectives.
