Avec toutes les rumeurs qui circulent sur les bouleversements dans les labos film, on tenait à vous dire que notre engagement envers l'argentique n'a jamais faibli 🎥!

Après une courte pause, le 16mm est de retour, avec non pas une, mais deux SRIII équipées de HD TAP, de quoi parer à toute éventualité, côté magasins comme côté caméra, pour tourner les productions les plus exigeantes en toute tranquillité.

Présentée ici aux côtés d'un autre ajout récent : le magnifique Cooke 10-30mm T1.6, l'un des seuls zooms Super Speed jamais fabriqué.

Ajoutez à ça les dernières mises à niveau de nos deux Penelopes : deux excellentes plaques de batterie Goldmount de OFG CUSTOMS pour ne jamais tomber à court de jus!

HORS-CHAMP est notre série qui met en lumière les opportunités, initiatives et événements de la communauté élargie de Cineground.

Cette fois, nous mettons en avant le programme “Femmes en Postprod”, une initiative de l'Académie canadienne du cinéma et de la télévision, présentée par Netflix, qui soutient les professionnel.le.s émergent.e.s et de niveau intermédiaire s'identifiant comme femmes ou comme personnes non binaires, œuvrant dans tous les domaines de la postproduction.

Le programme offre du mentorat ou de l'accompagnement en milieu de travail, des ateliers, des occasions de réseautage, ainsi qu'un accès à EditCon 2027, en plus d'une adhésion votante de deux ans à l'Académie canadienne.

Ce programme bilingue accueille les candidatures de partout au Canada, y compris du Québec, avec des placements offerts en anglais et en français.

📅 Les candidatures doivent être soumises avant le 23 juillet 2026, à 17 h (heure de l'Est).

HORS-CHAMP is our series highlighting opportunities, initiatives, and events from the wider Cineground community.

This time, we're highlighting the “Women in Post” program, an initiative by the Canadian Screen Awards , and presenting by Netflix supporting emerging and mid-level women-identifying and non-binary professionals working across all areas of post production.

The program offers mentorship or job shadowing, industry workshops, networking opportunities, and access to EditCon 2027, along with a two-year voting membership with the Canadian Academy.

The bilingual program welcomes applicants from across Canada, including Québec, with placements available in both English and French.

📅 Applications close July 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM ET.

If you work in editing, colour, sound, VFX, post supervision, or any other area of post production, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

Une très belle soirée avec la communauté de la QEPC !

Avant le Summer Mixer, Cineground et SLA Location ont présenté « Collaboration with a Cinema Rental House 101 », un atelier pratique sur la collaboration avec une maison de location : préparation, équipement, logistique de tournage, retours, contrats et bonnes pratiques. Un grand merci à Luis, Directeur à la location chez SLA Location, et à Paul, notre chef technicien, pour le partage de leur expertise et leur aperçu concret du processus de location.

Les participants ont également visité les installations de Cineground et SLA Location, accompagnés d’Andreas, notre cofondateur et directeur du département caméra, et de Luis. Une belle occasion de découvrir nos espaces et nos équipements.

Le Summer Mixer affichait complet, et ce fut un plaisir d’accueillir la communauté de la QEPC dans nos locaux, de retrouver des visages familiers, de rencontrer de nouveaux collaborateurs et de célébrer l’industrie cinématographique anglophone du Québec.

A great evening with the Quebec English-language Production Council community!

Before the Summer Mixer, CineGround and SLA Location SLA Location hosted "Collaboration with a Cinema Rental House 101," a practical workshop covering the rental process, from prep and equipment workflows to on-set logistics, returns, contracts, and best practices. Thank you to Luis, Director of Rental Operations at SLA Location, and Paul, our Head Technician, for sharing their expertise and giving participants a behind-the-scenes look at the rental process.

Guests also toured both CineGround and SLA Location, led by Andreas, our Co-Founder and Director of the Camera Department, and Luis.

The Summer Mixer was packed, and it was a pleasure to welcome the QEPC community into our space, reconnect with familiar faces, meet new collaborators, and celebrate Quebec’s vibrant English-language film industry.

🎬 Cineground est fier d'être partenaire de Festival du nouveau cinéma - FNC Industrie, et cette année, ça inclut le soutien au "Dispositif 3e Personnage", une initiative du Festival international Music & Cinema Marseille (MCM), présentée en collaboration avec le Festival du Nouveau Cinéma !

Pour sa 55e édition, le FNC lance cet appel à projets qui réunit cinéastes, producteur·rice·s et compositeur·rice·s autour de la composition musicale pour l'image.

Des films en développement avancé seront jumelés à des compositeur·rice·s canadien·ne·s, qui auront ensuite quelques semaines pour créer une maquette sonore inspirée du scénario et de la note d'intention musicale. Les rencontres auront lieu pendant le Festival.

On est très heureux de soutenir la composition musicale pour le cinéma dans le cadre de notre partenariat

🎬 Cineground is proud to be a partner of FNC Industry, and this year that includes supporting the "3rd Character Market," an initiative of the Festival International de Musique et de Cinéma de Marseille (MCM) presented in collaboration with the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma!

For its 55th edition, the FNC is launching this call for projects that brings together filmmakers, producers and composers around film scoring.

Films in advanced development will be paired with Canadian composers, who will then have a few weeks to create a musical sketch inspired by the screenplay and the musical intention note. Meetings will take place during the Festival.

We're thrilled to support music composition for film as part of our FNC Industry partnership.

Before our Summer Mixer on July 9th, join us for a practical workshop presented by Cineground and SLA Location!

Whether you’re a producer, director, cinematographer, or emerging filmmaker, this session will walk you through the full collaboration process with a rental house, from first contact and prep to on-set logistics, returns, contracts, and avoiding common pitfalls.

A great opportunity to better understand equipment workflows, ask questions, and strengthen your production knowledge.

Nous avons eu le plaisir d’accueillir le vernissage de l’exposition photos du directeur photo Éric Cayla csc, dont les œuvres photographiques explorent avec poésie la lumière, la matière et la perception. À travers des projections lumineuses sur l’écorce des arbres, ses images transforment le réel en compositions abstraites et fascinantes.

Un grand merci à Claire Sanford Claire Sanford , Geoffroy Beauchemin et à la Canadian Society of Cinematographers pour l’organisation de cet très bel événement et pour leur soutien à la création visuelle.

We were delighted to host the opening reception of cinematographer Éric Cayla, CSC's photography exhibition. His work poetically explores light, texture, and perception. Through projected light cast onto tree bark, his images transform the familiar into captivating abstract compositions.

A special thank you to Claire Sanford, Geoffroy Beauchemin and the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for the great organization of this event and for their continued support of visual storytelling and artistic creation.

Panasonic Lumix S1 II sur le plateau 🎬

Parmi les caméras plein format compactes les plus impressionnantes du moment, la Lumix S1 II a récemment été choisie par le directeur photo Mathieu Laverdière pour le tournage de LE SABLIER, le prochain long métrage du réalisateur Kim Nguyen, tourné dans les îles Canaries.

Grâce à son enregistrement interne en 5.7K ProRes / ProRes RAW, à la colorimétrie ARRI Log-C et à ses configurations PL/LPL robustes, la S1 II démontre qu'une caméra compacte peut parfaitement répondre aux exigences d'une production cinématographique ambitieuse.

Félicitations au 1er assistant caméra Guillaume Sabourin ainsi qu'à toute l'équipe caméra pour les rigs ingénieux développés afin de mener ce projet à bien. 👏🎥

Panasonic Lumix S1 II on set 🎬

One of the most exciting compact full-frame cinema cameras available today, the Lumix S1 II recently served as the camera of choice for DoP Mathieu Laverdière on LE SABLIER, the upcoming feature from director Kim Nguyen, filmed in the Canary Islands.

With internal 5.7K ProRes / ProRes RAW recording, ARRI Log-C colour science, and robust PL/LPL lens configurations, the S1 II proved that a compact camera can deliver on the demands of ambitious feature production.

Congratulations to 1st AC Guillaume Sabourin and the entire camera team for the ingenious rigs and configurations that helped bring this project to life. 👏🎥

Trois prix à Tribeca () pour Labrador - Autopsie du silence de Rodrigue Jean. Meilleur long métrage international, meilleure direction photo: Mathieu Laverdière, meilleure interprétation Christopher Angatookalook.

Le film a été tourné avec notre ARRI Alexa Mini LF et nos objectifs Atlas Mercury 1.5x Anamorphics (). L'étalonnage porte la signature de notre coloriste Marc Boucrot.

Three awards at Tribeca for “Labrador — Autopsie du silence” by Rodrigue Jean. Best International Feature Film, Best Cinematography: Mathieu Laverdière, Best Performance: Christopher Angatookalook.

The film was shot on our ARRI Alexa Mini LF with our Atlas Mercury 1.5x Anamorphic lenses. The colour grade bears the signature of our colourist Marc Boucrot.
