Hello 48HFPers!
Only 6 spots remain in this year's competition. Register your team now to make sure you get in. Entry is $160 at http://www.48hourfilm.com/montreal
If you're on the fence and wondering whether or not to compete, here are some reasons to enter.
1) The simple act of creation. If you're new to the industry or a hobbyist, getting up some momentum to actually make a film can be difficult. By entering, you are committing yourself to getting something finished under a deadline. That certainly gets the ball rolling.
2) For the professionals out there, when you're working on corporate video, industrials, commercials, etc. you can get burnt out creatively. Almost every professional who has competed in this event has felt like it provided them with a creative jolt that they can carry back into their professional work. It "shakes out the creative cobwebs".
3) Test your technical and creative skills. Again, if you're relatively new to the profession, being forced to make a film in two days is a real test of your technical and creative skills. Most people who have competed feel that they grow creatively and technically as a result of competing.
4) The films are screened to a packed house at a beautiful Theater a couple of days after they are completed. Your film. Big screen. Real audience. How often are you going to have the opportunity to have your films seen by an audience of 300 at a real movie theater?
5) Connecting with your local filmmaking community! We have 2 more official networking events and we're hoping to have a BYOBBQ as well. By participating, you will meet dozens of other filmmakers in town. People frequently develop lasting personal and professional relationships as a result of participating in this.
6) PRIZES! for contestants and winners. Who doesn't like prizes?
7) It's fun! It's challenging, but everyone competing has a blast. To be sure, it's an experience you will never forget!
With all these great reasons to compete, why have you not registered your team yet?
