Given an X-rating by the British Board of Film Censors in 1961, even after several scenes were cut, and refused a seal of approval by the Motion Picture Association of America, Basil Dearden’s VICTIM was the first British film to use the word “homosexual” and is now regarded as a neo-noir classic.
VICTIM screens on 35mm at both Nitehawk locations: Tuesday 6/2 at Nitehawk Prospect Park and Monday 6/29 at Nitehawk Williamsburg.
