On the fourth day of the 79th Cannes Film Festival in France, the Philippine delegation focused on strengthening international ties, sharing industry knowledge, and engaging in meaningful discussions on potential collaborations and strategic partnerships.

Filipino filmmaker Wilfredo Manalang held an insightful discussion with six Singaporean students at the Pavilion, fostering cultural exchange, critical thinking, and dialogue through cinema.

The FDCP also joined the Asian Film Alliance Network (AFAN) General Assembly alongside representatives from national film agencies and industry leaders across Asia, where the members discussed ways to move forward and the upcoming AFAN Bootcamp for Young Filmmakers and the AFAN Film and TV Summit happening in Manila this August, hosted by the FDCP as this year’s AFAN Host Country. The AFAN Spotlight Sessions. explored the co-production journey behind Sompot Chidgasornpongse’s Thai comedy-drama ‘9 Temples to Heaven,’ and featured the actors of ‘Next Step Studio,’ who shared insights on acting, collaboration, and the evolving landscape of Indonesian cinema.

QCinema Night concluded day 4 of Cannes 2026, where FDCP delegates connected with international industry figures and celebrated Philippine cinema on the global stage.

Two UNESCO Creative Cities of Film meet at the Cannes Film Festival!

Our Quezon City Screen Commission and QCinema International Film Festival team met with the Busan Film Commission of Busan, the first city in Asia designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Film, as Quezon City celebrates its recent designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Film.

Selected from a record-breaking 395 submissions, these projects will premiere at QCinema this November. Each project receives a ₱700,000 production grant from QCinema International Film Festival.

In celebration of Filipino Food Month 2026, QCinema is holding a reels competition and is looking for 10 unique culinary stories that reflect culinary passion and art in everyday life.

Each selected entry will receive ₱5,000 and a chance to be featured on Quezon City's official platforms.

MECHANICS
• Open to all QCitizens, including students from public and private schools and universities, amateur filmmakers, and culinary enthusiasts;

• Only one (1) entry per individual participant will be accepted;

• Entries must present a culinary story that clearly reflects culinary passion and art in everyday life;

• Competition is open to all genres:
* Narrative (fictional storytelling);
* Documentary (real people, real stories);
* Experimental (non-traditional or abstract forms);
* Animation (2D, 3D, stop-motion, or mixed media);

• Submit a finished video reel following these technical requirements:
* Portrait / Vertical orientation (9:16 aspect ratio);
* Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080);
* Format: MP4 or MOV
* Maximum duration of 90 seconds (including credits);
* Language: Filipino, English, or any Philippine language or dialect (with English subtitles required);

• Participants must register through the official Google Form and submit the following:
* Film title;
* Format;
* Short synopsis (maximum of 50 words);
* Director’s name and contact details;
* Google Drive link containing the video reel;

• Entries will be evaluated based on:
* Relevance to the theme;
* Creativity and originality;
* Artistic expression;
* Effective use of the 90-second running time;

• Deadline for submission: April 25, 2026. Winners will be announced on April 30, 2026.
