An afternoon at MoMA exploring “Frida and Diego: The Last Dream” and “Architects of Liberation,” an exhibition examining how modern architecture shaped the identities of newly independent nations in Western Africa.

Then out to the Sculpture Garden for French artist Pierre Huyghe’s “UUmwelt,” where screens show constantly changing images created using brain scans and machine learning. A fascinating look at how technology might interpret what we imagine.

On a remote German island, the inhabitants of a village gather to smash crockery as part of a traditional eve-of-wedding celebration. Ten-year-old Fina has been looking forward to this event for weeks, but the day takes an unexpected turn. While the guests immerse themselves in the excitement of the party, Fina struggles with traditional female roles and her longing for a female person of reference. Fina and her caring older sister only gradually realise how much their mother's absence is affecting both their lives.
They will need to support each other if they hope to make it through the difficult transition into adulthood.
Porcelain is a tender, timeless reflection on the coming-of-age of girls in a patriarchal society. Through Fina's eyes, the film looks at female role models and the experiences and emotions which shape growing up across generations.

“La amistad —decía Borges— no necesita frecuencia. El amor sí. El amor está lleno de ansiedades, de dudas. Un día de ausencia puede ser terrible”.

Borges: Ecos de un nombre

A visit to Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires, marking 40 years since the writer’s death.

Through manuscripts, first editions, photographs, personal objects, archival footage, and a recreation of the room where he lived for much of his life, the exhibition moves between the public and the intimate.

It traces his relationship with Buenos Aires, poetry, books and libraries, friendship, love—and, of course, cinema.

A beautiful encounter with his life, his work, and a universe that continues to resonate today.

"TO USE A MOUNTAIN"

Six rural American communities are marked as candidates for an unthinkable fate: their land, a sacrificial nuclear dumping ground. Against the cold, impassive logic of bureaucracy, a people’s history of resistance and stewardship emerges through a visceral journey across the landscapes, ecologies, and personal histories of the candidate sites.

"Zima (Winter)" directed by Tomek Popakul.

A cat lover, Jesus leaving the cross and Christmas carollers holding pitchforks are set against a snowy and icy scenery.

'Zima', a psychodelic journey to a small fishing village, collects as if in a lens the behaviour, customs and vices of the Polish provinces. In this small community, different views, the behaviour of people and animals and their mutual relations clash like ice floes on a lake. Maintained in the convention of magic realism, this animation is like a horror playing out to the accompaniment of barking dogs and a punk metal music score.
