We’re looking for passionate people to help shape the future of Heathfield’s new independent Community Cinema. Could that be you?

The Vault Community Cinema is an exciting new project at the heart of Heathfield’s cultural community, bringing people together through film, events, and shared experiences. As we grow, we’re looking for new members to join our Board of Directors and help guide the cinema’s future.

We’d especially love to hear from people with experience in areas such as community engagement, fundraising, business, hospitality, marketing, events, education, or building management — but enthusiasm and fresh ideas are just as important, and all backgrounds are welcome.

Board members will help support the development of a welcoming, inclusive cinema for Heathfield and the surrounding area, working alongside a passionate team dedicated to creating something special for the community.

So, I promised you all some exciting news…

I’m very pleased to announce that prominent British Film Producer, Gabrielle Tana, is on board with our project.

Gaby, pictured here with her cat Basil (who I also met), kindly invited me to her Sussex home yesterday to discuss how she can help get the project off the ground.

Having been at the very top of the industry for a number of Years, including an Academy Award nomination in 2013 for co-producing the wonderful ‘Philomena’, Gaby had some fantastic ideas. I’m not ashamed to admit that I came out of the meeting like a giddy schoolboy at the prospect of working with Gaby on this project.

She is such a huge supporter of Cinema and like me, is concerned with how the medium of Cinema, along with other social gatherings and how we access our entertainment, had regressed since Covid. That was apparently a huge discussion point at the Cannes Film Festival that she has recently returned from.

Gaby has offered to sit on the board of trustees and was eager to view both the Community Cinema in its current format at Sheepsetting Lane and the proposed new premises in the town centre.

I will keep you all updated with further progress, but I hope you’re all just as excited as I am.

Gaby was lovely, very easy to talk to and such a welcoming host. I’d like to thank her for giving me some of her time, particularly in this busy period of post production on her new projects, ‘Elsinore’ and ‘Switzerland’…which I’m certain you’ll be able to come and see at The Vault.

I hope this fantastic news will help us to come together as a collective of Heathfield and the surrounding villages.

I’ve got some exciting news to share with you all…

Those that are coming to this evenings screening of Song Sung Blue will find out first hand…

I will post the news tomorrow for those that aren’t coming tonight, so stay tuned!!

If you are coming this evening, please bear in mind that it will be warm so dress appropriately. The venue doesn’t have air conditioning but I will get there early to open the windows
