Hamnet (2025) (12) 2hrs

In late 16th-century England, Agnes, a healer sensitive to the world around her, builds a home with William, a local tutor and aspiring playwright. When thieir son Hamnet dies, their lives fracture and they are tested by distance, silence, and grief.

Chloe Zhao’s reimagining of Maggie O’Farrell’s bestselling novel is a contemporary, hugely lauded work of fiction set in the historical heavyweight of Shakespeare’s origin story of Hamlet. Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley are set to stun us in a rare treat of a costume drama whose roots are old but whose body is fresh.

"The film serves as a lovely reminder of why art is important, how watching something can make you feel, make you understand, make you consider. The fluidity of movement allows for every emotion to sneak up on you”.

Jessie Buckley won Best Actress award at both the Oscar and BAFTA awards this year.

This injustice further inspires him to fulfil his dreams and liberate his new friends. A Real Pain (2024) (15)

1hr 30mins

Two cousins, David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin), as close as brothers, attempt to heal their generational trauma and their relationship with each other by flying out to Poland to visit their late grandmother’s house. They join a group on a Jewish heritage tour, a highly emotional and revelatory journey. David and Benji are at opposite ends of the emotional spectrum. The former is a diligent micro-manager of his pain. The latter is charismatic, but volatile; so much of an active listener that he’ll cry out, “Oh snap!”, when a group member shares that he’s a survivor of the genocide in Rwanda.

Director & Writer: Jesse Eisenberg
Stars: Kieran Culkin, Jesse Eisenberg, Olha Bosova

As they travel in search of dry land, Cat has to overcome his fear of the water and all the animals have to show trust and courage to work together to survive. This touching animation reflects on the fragility of our world and the importance of friendship and community.

The Lost King (2022) (12)

1hr 48mins

Based on a true story, amateur historian Phillipa Langley defies the stodgy academic establishment in her dedicated campaigning to discover King Richard III’s remains, which were lost for over 500 years. Drawn to this figure because of the way Shakespeare monsterises his disability – an outward sign of inward sin – Langley, who has ME, also feels sidelined, dismissed and misunderstood. Her obsession is further sparked by visions and conversations with Richard III (Harry Lloyd), who looks exactly like the actor in the local Shakespeare production.

Director: Stephen Frears
Stars: Sally Hawkins, Shonagh Price, Harry Lloyd, Steve Coogan, Helen Katamba

Doors open at 7pm, with film starting at 8pm.
