I have seen this happening more often now than ever before!
Ladies listen up!
Build your own wealth, skills, and coin.
The future is never guaranteed!!!
One of the cruelest things I see is a woman spending 20 or 30 years helping build a family, only to be told at the end of it that she now needs to “start again”.
Maybe she stayed home with the children. Maybe she worked part time. Maybe she turned down promotions, moved for your career, handled the school runs, the appointments, the house, the emotional load and all the invisible work that allowed you to keep progressing.
Then the marriage ends.
You keep the career. You keep the experience. You keep the salary. You keep the pension. You keep the professional network. You keep the momentum.
And she is left trying to work out how to re-enter a workforce that has moved on without her.
That is not just sad. It is brutally unfair when the life you get to keep was only possible because of the life she put on hold.
People love to say, “Well, she chose to stay home.”
But most of the time, that choice benefited the whole family. It meant someone was there for the children. It meant someone absorbed the chaos. It meant someone made it possible for the other person to keep climbing.
So if the relationship ends, you do not get to suddenly treat that sacrifice like it had no value.
And if you are the kind of man who leaves a woman in her 50s with a giant CV gap, reduced earning power and no real safety net while you continue living almost exactly as before, you need to look very hard at what kind of person that makes you.
The same goes if one of your friends is doing it and everyone around him is cheering him on like he “won”.
He did not win.
He benefited from someone else’s sacrifice, then walked away with the advantage.
A decent man does not want the woman who helped build his life to be financially punished for having trusted him.
Even if the marriage ends.
Even if the love is gone.
Even if both people need to move on.
You can separate without abandoning someone financially.
And if she helped you build the life you still get to enjoy, then leaving her to rebuild from nothing is not strength.
It is cruelty.
