There are so many ways to get involved locally if you are looking to make changes for the community. This past Moral Monday gave the community an opportunity to come together, discuss the hardships of our current times for the most vulnerable people, with ways to get involved in Sacramento. It's about promoting and restoring a "moral narrative" in the public sphere with Poor People's Campaign, Sacramento

Once you see the purpose of the false narrative game you cannot unsee it. It is a disturbing tool by the cruel who only view people in categories of "good" or "bad" so it is easier to dehumanize and exploit. We all know that this is fake power or they wouldn't try so hard. There is so much of our humanity in the " in between "

We worked hard through the years here at CLAP for so many reasons- but one being the ongoing blistering void of systemic support (Systemic Abandonment) for the most marginalized. This is reflect through the CLAP Connect: "What supports have you had while experiencing a lack of resources or support for basic needs, safety, and community -dozens of our community members answered "None," "None at all," "Nothing," or "Very little". The data exposes a catastrophic failure in municipal resource allocation while grassroots orgs are extracted and co-opted.

Moral Monday events are in full effect locally. We are living in dire times with cuts to programs for the most vulnerable people who have already suffered. Each gathering for Moral Mondays is about public and community accountability - because we can do better for ourselves and each other.

Moral Monday
Monday, August 31 from 10 AM- 12 NOON
Sacramento County Board of Supervisors’ front outdoor plaza area at 700 H Street, Sacramento, CA.

Moral Monday events will focus on public accountability and the impacts of the City and County of Sacramento administration’s policies and proposed budget cuts, particularly on low-income communities. Specifically, the events will focus on the unhoused, the effects of homelessness and related programs, and policies that allow law enforcement agencies to conduct inhumane and harmful sweeps, destroy personal belongings, and perpetuate the displacement of people experiencing homelessness.

Finding safe community during our current times is crucial. Yes, we are strong because the way we have and continue to be resilient is applicable. It's just not sustainable to be super strong and on survival mode on a daily basis.
