The results of our discussion are in. 75% of respondents agree that safety at a drive-in theatre is very important. And contrary to what some people commented on, every vehicle is searched and there is no special treatment for vehicles that buy a food/beverage permits. So we do allow you to bring in food /beverages as long as you buy a food/beverage permit. And we turn away vehicles that don't want to dispose of their alcohol or take their weapons back home, so its all about money argument doesn't hold water.
I remember I went up to the old Starlite drive-in back in 1985 when it had closed and talked to a gentleman that had lived by the drive-in , and one of the main reasons the Starlite Drive-In closed was because there was always problems with alcohol, weapons and fights. Sad that the Startlite Drive-In no longer exist.
As I had mentioned in my previous post, its all about safety, and its made a big difference since we implemented this policy 10 years ago. No more drunk drivers, potential fights or other unpleasant situations.
I want to thank my patrons that appreciate this policy and for your support of the Tri-Way Drive-In Theatre.

Somehting I want to bring to everyones attention since the purpose of the policy is being misunderstood and false claims made.
The purpose of the vehicle search before your vehicle enters the theatre is "To protect our patrons from weapons and drunk drivers."
I know some people are going to argue and come up with other reasons why its done, but let me point out these simply truths Since the Tri-Way Drive-In Theatre has implemented the vehicle search policy, that drive-in theatre has been a much safer place.
Have you ever thought about maybe there are things that the owner based on his analytical skills sees that many other drive-in owners don't see. Like allowing alcoholic beverages to be brought on the premises and consumed and most drive-in owners will say we discourage it. But what measures did you take to prevent any drunk drivers from being on the premises? Most drive-in owners would say we discourage it, but the judge would say you didn't do anything to prevent it? They would have to say no. Then the drive-in owner is liable for any harm that may have been cause by a drunk driver. Case in point. One night a child was running back to screen 3 and was hit by a van. The girl fell under the van, but thank God a security guard was there to stop the van immediately and the girl was not hurt. The driver of the van was drunk. Or the night that 2 girls were parked back on screen 2, and took off going 50 MPH down a drive between screen 2 & 3. I was able to stop them at the exit and asked them what was going on. They said the accelerator had stuck, but when I went back on screen 2 where they were parked , there were 10 empty beer cans. They left before the movie even got started. Thank God no one walked out in front of their truck. These are only 2 examples of situations that occurred prior to the vehicle checks being implemented. I can tell you a whole bunch more. And then someone will say I went to such and such drive-in and nothing like that happened there, but were you at that drive-in every night? No . So you have no idea what may have happeneed on those other nights. I sleep a whole lot better now knowing that I am doing everything I can to keep my patrons and their friends and family safe. I hope you agree that a minor inconvenience of a vehicle search is outweighed by the safety of everyone in the drive-in theatre.
