He comes home. The Odyssey arrives this Thursday 7/16 with first shows starting at 2:30 pm. We have standard digital projection but can play it in 1:85.1 or 2:39.1 so if that’s a question for you please call and see which aspect ratio is playing.

If you’re a lover of cinema, then you will recognize today as a very important date. 108 years ago in Uppsala, Sweden, Ingmar Bergman was born. For a half century Bergman used the silver screen as a mirror, reflecting his feelings on life and death, relationships, the role of an artist, and the anxieties and angst that come with living in this modern age, lighting up the screen as x-rays to the soul and psyche. If you loved the Glenwood Arts current hit COLORS OF TIME—and a lot of people have—then you should check out other films from its writer-director Cedric Klapisch! He’s been a favorite of mine (Eric) for a while. I’d guess you would say his aesthetic is charming, observational films, like Eric Rohmer crossed with Whit Stillman. GAIL DAUGHTRY AND THE CELEBRITY S*X PASS is now playing at the Glenwood Arts! If you were paying attention to comedy from well, the 90s on, you should definitely be familiar with its director and cowriter (and sometimes actor) David Wain. He was a member of the comedy troupe The State, and has given us many laugh-filled projects (I’m (Eric) very partial to the WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER series myself) as writer and director.
