I adored Sally Kirkland. In 2013, the first year of the Studio City Film Festival, Sally won for Best Actress in a short. But after she accepted the award, she fell off the stage. She broke and dislocated her ankle. Sally was in so much pain and could not move. We stopped the show and called an ambulance. As she was being wheeled out of the theater on a gurney, she waved to the crowd and said, "Goodnight, everyone. Enjoy the rest of the show!" What a trooper. I felt so bad for Sally because she had a long rehab. In 2018, we made things up Sally just a little when we gave her our Lifetime Achievement Award. We showed many of her movie clips and then did an interview. She was delightful and the crowd gave her a well-deserved standing ovation at the end of the interview..
