How Do You Solve a Problem Like ‘Emma’?

"Too many decisions are made in order to make girls look attractive to modern audiences. We’re moving into a time, luckily, where we can have Emma be as I wanted to depict her, as she was in my mind.” - Autumn de Wilde, director (via The New York Times )

Other movie versions of the Jane Austen heroine emphasized her charms. This time she doesn’t care about pleasing her audience.

I will never ever attempt to go here again. ParkIng is ridiculous and expensive. Got here on time and parking took 15 min to find a space. Got to the box office and they would not let me in. Previews were just ending. I arrived 2:27 for a 2:15 posted show. They told me all about their policy of not letting in after start of show. How is this different than if I went to use the restroom? I came over an hour and a half and I told them this and notting. They turned me away and I had to pay for parking to boot. I came back from two years in Dallas where I loved Alamo theaters but this was rude and mean to keep me out over a policy. I could have quietly taken my seat no differently than if I came back from the restroom. Instead I was treated rudely and shown no consideration for the fact that I was late because of lack of parking. I was here the night before after work with three other people who I bragged about this theater over. Now I am sitting here writing a negative review and furious over how I was treated and dismissed. To make matteRs worse, I pUrchased the ticket on Fandango and saw there were many be 5 other people in the auditorium. They could have easily let me in under the circumstances but they chose to piss me off and make me want to tell everyone I i know what happened. I would welcome the theater's response and I don't want to just hear again about yoUr policy. I was by myself and not asking to have a loud noisy group seated 20 minutes into show time.

Why the F aren't you guys participating in the Good Place finale screenings?!!!
Is the Alamo Drafthouse Los Angeles having a special event for The Grudge?
Is the Alamo Drafthouse Los Angeles having any special event for Friday the 13th?
Is Alamo Drafthouse Los Angeles doing anything for next months Friday the 13th?
Is there a reason that you guys aren't showing The Lighthouse and Arclight's overrated ass is?
Hi! How long do your previews run past the stated start time? We’re trying to make a 6 pm movie, but timing will be tight and don’t want to show up and be turned away.
Does the Alamo Drafthouse Los Angeles have a parking lot?
Of course it's my luck that a clown movie would come out just as I was excited you guys had opened. Will y'all be doing events like other locations? Grease Singalong? Pride and Prejudice tea parties? The Mummy?!
I love this place my new home.
Already love the season pass! My only petty criticism: do away with the convenience fee! That or maybe open it up for POS ticketing at the theater for those who are willing to “chance” it in line. Part of the charm is the sort of “rainy day” back up plan that comes with paying for the month in advance — especially when LA shows off with it’s 90+ degree sunny days! It’s nice to just pop in a see something. Other than that, I adore the theater and the staff holding it all together. Thank you!
