I am honored to accept the Stewartship award presented from Preservation Association of Lincoln  and I will keep plugging away to make the Joyo even a better place. Thank you. 
This years Stewardship Award goes to Dwight Carter, owner of the Joyo Theater.
The current building was constructed ca. 1928 as the “Lyric,” competing with Havelock’s first movie house, across the street (now 6121), opened around 1913 in former saloon/RE office built c. 1910. Raymond Williamson operated the original Joyo in the building across the street, but closed that location and renamed the Lyric “JOYO” in 1936. The JOYO was operated by Montgomery's for many years, but was purchase by the Carters in 1998 and has been owned and operated by Dwight Carter 28 years now.
