Our mission is to enrich the artistic, social, and political life of our community through film. In addition to daily screenings of first run independent and art films, we enhance the viewing experience with educational opportunities such as our cinema literacy classes and pre- and post-film discussions led by members of Ithaca’s impressive academic, cultural, and human services communities. We sh

ow films that have artistic merit and which raise a broad range of issues, including those featured in the annual Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival. Cinemapolis has also made a strong commitment to being the community's local cinema, offering a venue for local filmmakers. Other community opportunities include those for children and high school students, allowing them to see quality films appropriate for their stage of development.

**One Screening Only - GLOBAL LENS - May 31, 2:30PM!**

Island of Marajó, Amazon rainforest. Marcielle (Tielle), 13, lives by the riverbanks with her father, mother, and three siblings. Prompted by her mother's words, she idolizes her older sister who supposedly escaped her reality by "finding a good man" on the barges that ply the region. As Tielle matures, her idealized visions shatter, leaving her trapped between two abusive environments. Increasingly worried about her younger sister and the bleak future they face, she decides to confront the oppressive system that controls her family and the women in their community.

Tuner is a crime thriller film directed by Daniel Roher and written by Roher and Robert Ramsey. The film stars Leo Woodall, Havana Rose Liu, Lior Raz, Tovah Feldshuh, Jean Reno, and Dustin Hoffman.

Niki White is the apprentice of New York City piano tuner Harry Horowitz, a friend of his late father. Once a gifted musician, Niki suffers from hyperacusis and can no longer play piano, wearing ear protection at all times against loud noises. After Harry forgets the combination to his safe, Niki teaches himself to open it with his heightened hearing, discovering a talent for safe-cracking.

Pressure is an upcoming war drama film directed and edited by Anthony Maras, written by Maras and David Haig, and based on Haig's 2014 stage play. It stars Andrew Scott as meteorologist James Stagg and Brendan Fraser as Dwight D. Eisenhower, along with Kerry Condon, Chris Messina, and Damian Lewis in supporting roles.

In the tense 72 hours before D-Day, and with the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, Pressure follows General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Group Captain James Stagg as they face an impossible choice: launch the largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether.
