With profound sadness, DFW Honor Flight honors the life and service of World War II Veteran Stan Nelson of Anoka, Minnesota, who passed away on November 20, 2025, at the age of 105.

Stan served our nation with extraordinary courage as a Lieutenant (j.g.) and Communications Officer aboard LCI-492. On D-Day, he was among the first wave at Omaha Beach—piloting his landing craft again and again through relentless enemy fire, placing himself in harm’s way to carry Allied soldiers safely toward shore.

Stan did more than witness one of history’s defining moments.

He helped secure the freedom we cherish today.

We are forever grateful for his service, his sacrifice, and his legacy. It is our honor to remember him.

Rest in peace, Stan Nelson. 🕊️🇺🇸

Forever a hero. Forever honored.

With deep sorrow, we say farewell to Pearl Harbor survivor George W. Blake, a soldier who stood in the fire of history on that fateful morning of December 7, 1941. Under a sky filled with flames and chaos, he held his ground as America’s innocence burned away, and its resolve was born. For decades after, he carried the memory of those who never came home, not as a burden, but as a sacred duty. Today, his watch has ended, and he joins his 1,177 fallen brothers in eternal peace. We remember his courage, his humility, and the quiet strength of a man who never stopped honoring the day that changed the world.🕊️🇺🇸⚓
