Originally constructed in 1946 to serve as the Town’s first indoor movie theater, The Cary was meticulously restored in 2014 to create a vibrant space downtown that offers i

ndependent film, live performance comedy and improv, Cinema Overdrive and other interesting film series, plus the Six String Presents music series and other live events. 🧟‍♂️Zombiepalooza is The Cary’s annual ZOMBIE SHORT FILM competition that takes place every October in downtown Cary, NC. Submissions are only open to North Carolina filmmakers and residents.

📍 Zombiepalooza will take place Oct. 23, 2026 on the Downtown Cary Park’s Great Lawn
🎟️ Everyone is Free To Attend! Mark your calendar for October 23, 2026!

🎬 FILM REQUIREMENTS:
📌 Short films must be 5 minutes or less.
Short films must include this year’s prop: main characters must play a sport…any sport.
📌 Short films must be family friendly. Films with excessive language, gore, or violence are ineligible and will be removed from consideration.
📌 Short films must have a Zombie theme. General horror, thriller, or slasher films are ineligible and will be removed from consideration.
