They’re celebrating 10 years of Akron Pride, and we’re excited to match that with 10 q***r films this summer! 📸 4-6: Film producer and born Akronite Mark Mitten, the namesake for our Mitten Media Library, paid us a visit from Chicago to celebrate his 50th reunion from Firestone High School. He’s an Academy Award nominee, Emmy Award-winner, and great friend to The Nightlight ❤️

It’s a great time to be a q***r horror fan 👏🎬 Leviticus has debuted with an incredible 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Premiering TONIGHT at The Nightlight, get your 🎟️ now in the 🔗🔝

Written and directed by Adrian Chiarella, the Australian horror follows two gay teenagers (played by Joe Bird and Stacy Clausen) whose homophobic religious community summons a violent supernatural presence to torment them and take the form of the person they desire the most – “each other”.

The film has received universal critical acclaim for its innovative concept and its use of horror to explore modern-day homophobia. –

When his wife Angela (Wilde) informs Joe (Seth Rogan) that she has invited their upstairs neighbors Pina (Penelope Cruz) and Hawk (Edward Norton) to dinner, he smolders with resentment. In an outburst of passive-aggressive revenge, he seizes the opportunity to tell them how disruptive their frequent lo******ng is. What ensues in Will McCormack and Rashida Jones’s adaptation of a 2020 Spanish film is tremendously funny and poignant as the straitlaced Angela and Joe find themselves surprised and challenged by the far less traditional s*xual mores of Pina and Hawk. If there is a name that deserves more recognition in horror, it is Causeway Films. The independent Australian production company has been behind some of the biggest films in the genre, including ‘The Babadook’, ‘The Nightingale’, and ‘Talk to Me’. Their latest effort, ‘Leviticus’, joins their resume of striking, singular horror movies while exploring a fresh subject matter: a q***r romance. Starring Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, and Mia Wasikowska, the debut feature from writer-director Adrian Chiarella follows two star-crossed teen boys who must face a shapeshifting evil force.

But when she visits the original movie’s star (Gillian Anderson, The X-Files), a now-reclusive actress shrouded in mystery, the two women fall into a blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium.
