Little film lovers, big adventures! October at the Cinema Paradiso is full of magic, discoveries and Halloween chills ✨ 💫

08/10/2026

Elegant settings, dazzling camera movements, impossible passions: enter the world of Max Ophüls, where beauty is never far from vertigo.

This October, discover three remarkable films in which love becomes memory, fantasy or a missed encounter. From 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 to 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐝𝐞…, Ophüls follows characters swept along by desires they cannot escape.

His final film, 𝗟𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁è𝘀, transforms a tumultuous life into a breathtaking spectacle, blurring the boundaries between memory, reality and performance. Its restoration has a special connection to our Cinémathèque: a positive print from our collections, used as a working copy, was among the materials that contributed to the restoration carried out by the Cinémathèque française and Les Films du Jeudi in 2006.

𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 💬
On 22 September, we entered 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗟𝘆𝗻𝗰𝗵’s unsettling world with 𝗘𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱, chosen by our guest Stephen Korytko, then stayed to talk about it!

A nightmare, a dark comedy, a portrait of parenthood and anxiety? We loved exploring these interpretations with Stephen and our audience, exchanging reflections, inspirations and questions that may never quite find an answer... With a film like this, that’s part of the fascination.

That’s the spirit of Cinémathèque Film Club: discovering or rediscovering films through someone else’s eyes, sharing different perspectives and leaving with new ways of seeing.

Thank you to Stephen for choosing such a monumental film, and to everyone who joined the conversation!
