Mo Chairde

Mo Chairde Our services include Meals on Wheels and an Active Age Day Centre, with door-to-door minibus transport for clients.

This project is supported by the Department of Rural and Community Development and Pobal under the Community Services Programme. The service offers:
Day Activities
4 Course Meal
Laundry Facilities
External Trips organised
Meals on Wheels

The Day Care Activities include Painting Classes, Arts & Crafts, Creative Writing and Woodturning Workshops. Meals are available at the Centre from Monday to Fri

day at 1pm and meals can be delivered to cover 7 days per week. We participate in the Go For Life Exercise Programme through Roscommon Sports Partnership twice a year. Information Sessions are held on Rights & Entitlements e.g. Making a Will, Benefit & Grants & Entitlements. Day trips include locations such as Knock Shrine, Bealtaine Festival, Glencar Waterfall, Strokestown House, and places of historic interest! We also arrange private cinema viewings two or three times a year. We participate in the National Positive Aging Week with Age Action Ireland. In December, we have flower arranging and encourage members to create their Christmas Decorations and Table floral arrangements. We also help them design Christmas Cards and other stationery. The Service operates from St Ronan’s Community Centre, Keadue. Transport to and from the centre is also provided.

While the Mo Chairde Centre is closed this week for our annual leave, there’s still plenty happening around Keadue!

The O’Carolan Harp Festival & Summer School is in full swing, with a fantastic programme of music, culture, and community events taking place throughout the Bank Holiday weekend.

A few highlights include:

☕ Festival Café – Open all week and throughout the weekend in St. Ronan’s Hall

🎉 Family Fun Run – Friday 31st at 7.00pm, starting from St. Ronan’s Hall

🎈 Family Fun Day – Saturday 1st at Keadue Sportsfield

🎭 “The Sand Park” by Seamus O’Rourke – St. Ronan’s Hall, Keadue, Saturday night 1st August at 9.00pm

Please come along and support the O’Carolan Harp Festival and enjoy everything on offer over the Bank Holiday weekend!

📢 Annual Summer Closure Reminder ☀️
Just a friendly reminder that Mo Chairde will be closed for our annual summer break from Monday, 27th July.
🚐 Meals on Wheels will resume on Tuesday, 4th August.
💙 Day Centre activities will recommence on Wednesday, 5th August.
We'd like to thank all our clients, families, volunteers, and supporters for your continued support. We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing break, and we look forward to welcoming you all back in August! 🌼

A huge thank you to Leah, Brian and Kevin for their incredible support of Mo Chairde.

Today, Leah and Brian called in to present us with a cheque for €1,000, raised through the James Cull Tractor Run which took place on St. Stephen's Day.

Funds raised from the annual tractor run go towards North West STOP-Suicide Prevention and local community groups. We are so grateful to have been chosen as one of the local groups to benefit this year.

Your generosity will go towards activities for our Day Centre clients, helping us create even more special moments together.

Thank you again to everyone involved for your kindness and support – it is truly appreciate.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mary Shierdan, a valued and cherished member of our Day Centre family.
Mary was a familiar face in Keadue for many years, and while she had not been attending regularly in recent times, she always remained an important part of our community. Today, we took time to reflect on the many happy memories we shared with her and spoke about the kindness, friendship, and warmth she brought to those around her.
Mary touched the lives of so many people and will be remembered with great fondness by staff, volunteers, and fellow service users alike.
Our sincere sympathies go out to Mary’s family, friends, and all who loved her during this difficult time.
May her gentle soul rest in peace. 🕊️💕
