Wylam community cinema is back on Saturday 14th March. As part of the Tyne Valley Film Festival we will show The Seed of the Sacred Fig (2024). Doors open at 7:00, film starts at 7:30, £5, at Wylam Institute.

This Oscar and BAFTA-nominated Iranian thriller tells the story of Iman, a bureaucrat torn between loyalty to his family and the Iranian regime. As political unrest erupts in the streets he becomes increasingly paranoid, even suspecting his own family.

Set in early 1970s, when Brazil was under a violent military dictatorship, a devoted mother has her life shattered when her husband is arrested. She is forced to hold her household together while confronting a repressive regime.

A father has spent years searching tirelessly for his missing son, who stormed out over a game of Scrabble. He tries to solve the mystery of an online player whom he thinks could be his son, so he can finally move on and reunite his family.

Joy is a British true story of the worlds first IVF. A young nurse, a visionary scientist, and an innovative surgeon, played by Bill Nighy, face opposition from the church, state, media, and medical establishment in their pursuit of the world's first `test tube baby,' Louise Joy Brown.
