Sad news for community cinema in our region, but they're a fantastic and passionate team and hopefully they'll find a new home soon. We'll keep passing any updates along as they share them, please keep supporting your local cinemas!

This is not the sort of post we’re used to putting out on a Friday…

An important announcement from Fuse Cinema:

After 12 wonderful years of bringing cinema to our community, we're very sorry to announce that Fuse Cinema will be closing for the foreseeable future.

The closure follows Northumberland County Council’s decision to temporarily close the Fuse Media Centre, which has been our home since 2014, while potential new uses for the site are explored. Without access to the premises, we’re unable to continue operating Fuse Cinema for the time being.

While we're naturally disappointed, our overwhelming feeling is one of gratitude. We'd like to thank every customer who has bought a ticket, every volunteer who has given their time, every partner, funder and supporter who has helped us along the way, and everyone who has simply believed that a local independent cinema could make a difference. Together, you've helped create something very special.
Over the past 12 years we've welcomed thousands of visitors through our doors, screened hundreds of films, hosted special events, welcomed schools, community groups and filmmakers, and shared countless memorable evenings with audiences of all ages. None of this would have been possible without your support, loyalty and enthusiasm.

We've always believed that cinema is about much more than showing films. It's about bringing people together, creating shared experiences, inspiring conversations, and giving our community a place to laugh, cry, celebrate and escape for a couple of hours. We're incredibly proud that Fuse Cinema has been able to do that for the people of Prudhoe for the past 12 years.

Although this chapter is coming to a close, we're choosing to see it as a pause rather than a goodbye. We're incredibly proud of everything Fuse Cinema has achieved over the past 12 years, and we remain hopeful that there will be opportunities to write the next chapter.

Behind the scenes, we're already working hard to explore every possible way of continuing community cinema in Prudhoe. Whether that's returning to the Fuse Media Centre should the opportunity arise, or finding other venues where we can continue screening films, we're doing everything we can to keep the spirit of Fuse Cinema alive and will update you as soon as we can.

So this isn't goodbye – it's simply "see you later", we hope. Please keep following our website, social media channels and subscribing to our newsletter for future updates. We look forward to sharing news with you as soon as we're able, and we sincerely hope to welcome you back to the movies before too long.

From all of us at Fuse Cinema, thank you for being part of our story. It's been a privilege to share the magic of the big screen with you, and we'll always be incredibly grateful for the friendships, memories and support you've given us over the past 12 years.

David, Neal, Stephen and Tim 🎥🍿

What a night 👽

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Aliens Special Edition screening at Film at the Hearth and helped make it such a brilliant evening.

Special thanks to Neil Cole's Adventures in Science Fiction: Museum of Sci-fi for sharing his time, stories and incredible Xenomorph displays — it was fantastic to get a closer look at a piece of sci-fi movie history and celebrate such an iconic film series together.

And of course, thank you to our audience for bringing the atmosphere and continuing to support community cinema. If you took any photos on the night, we’d love to see them — please share them in the comments or tag us in your posts so we can relive the evening together 📸👽!
