The Medieval Bells return to St Nicks!

After a very long sojourn to Somerset, our restored medieval bells are returning to St Nicks!

On 10th June at 10:30am we'll be hosting a coffee morning to welcome them back. Revd Sally will bless them and we'll watch them ascend up the bell tower.

There will also be a multimedia display and a short talk on medieval bells by Daniel Stevens, our local bell expert.

As they haven't been heard as a set for over a century this will be a moving celebration for many of us.

Be one of the first to hear their new tunes!

Any offers to bake would be gratefully appreciated :-)

If you'd like to attend, please send Tim an email ([email protected]) to ensure that we have enough mugs & cake!

It’s going to be an evening full of fun, love, joy, and neighbourly sense of community - at St Nicholas Church, Swafield. Totally appropriate for the medieval church building!

DISCO FEVER at ST NICKS. Our first Dance Party at St-Nicks Arts Centre is coming, and it’s going to be such fun! Bright 70s music with DJ FUNKY CHICKEN, video projections, computer operated disco lights (it was a big job to install it all), and even a little line dancing! Some of us already started practicing 70s dance moves (that evening it'll be the Hustle) - thanks a lot to Rosanne for leading our practicing session.
Licensed bar will be open with some wonderful cocktails and an updated improved wine list. 🙂 So, see you this Saturday at St Nicks Arts Centre

St Nicks Arts Centre: The NY Met – Eugene Onegin on 8th May @ 6:30pm

A timeless story of love, yearning, and the tragic consequences of youthful pride, Eugene Onegin holds the dual honour of being one of the most beloved works of both Russian opera and Russian literature.

The opera is based on Alexander Pushkin’s iconic verse novel, which is a classic of Russian literature.

Following her acclaimed 2024 company debut in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, when critics hailed her as “a fiercely intelligent and captivating singer” (The New York Times) and an artist “seemingly able to sing just about any role she chooses” (The Associated Press), world-renowned soprano Asmik Grigorian returns to the Met stage to star as Tatiana in Eugene Onegin.

Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece features soaring melodies, rich ensembles, buoyant dance numbers, and some of the most striking vocal solos in the repertory.

The Met’s evocative production, directed by Tony Award–winner Deborah Warner, “offers a beautifully detailed reading of … Tchaikovsky’s lyrical romance” (The Telegraph).

This screening is preceded by an optional fish & chip supper from the Fish Shop in Roughton (or bring your own food) that will be delivered at 6:30pm, the screening will start around 6:45pm. We will have a licensed bar at this event!

Tickets: £15 adults, £10 children
