It’s time for a new Christmas tradition at the Woolton Picture House.

First, the bad news. Paramount Pictures didn’t find it in their hearts to grant us a licence to show the film version of It’s A Wonderful Life this Christmas.

Now, the great news. We have managed to secure a live stage version of the film following two years of sell out runs at Liverpool’s Royal Court! This version, by Old Fruit Jar Productions and based on a radio play of It’s A Wonderful Life, will be at the Picture House on 22, 23 & 24 December on our new stage.

We have also added in extra screenings of Elf, Home Alone and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

All extra performances go on sale at 10am.

Remember, every time you buy a ticket, an angel gets his wings.

All of the money raised from the Christmas programme this year will go into the pot for refurbishment so come and enjoy a night out and invest in the future!

A new screening is on sale now!

Algorithm Party is the full-length feature adaptation of debut publication of spoken word artist 'Roy' (PJ Smith). The film is the directorial debut of Roy Boulter – drummer in Liverpool band The Farm, who has produced ten international theatrically-released feature films alongside partner Sol Papadopoulos for Hurricane Films. Hurricane Films have produced Algorithm Party in partnership with co-producers Twenty-One Media.

Algorithm Party is an authentic, forthright glimpse into working class life, told with a blunt honesty with humour and compassion.
Roy’s deft, articulate and startlingly observed musings veer from the comic to the calamitous in a breath, cutting to the quick of the broad swathe of people and personalities that comprise his native city, from struggling parents to small-time criminals, pent-up white-collar workers to drinkers long lost to the ale. Roy’s eye is as keen as it is generous, presenting, in the great tradition of English realism, the real lives of people up against it in all sorts of ways, muddling through, trying to make the best of it.

Massive thank you to Harry Crampton, the founder member of our fundraising campaign, for getting the stage area built beneath the screen. This means that we can now host a variety of different community events as well as our film screenings!

The amazing Aiden did a brilliant job building it, with support from Greg at MDL Timber and Tommy Byrne.

This is what a community effort is all about.

A huge thank you to The Oliver King Foundation for their donation of a defibrillator which has now been fitted onto the side of the building. They arranged training for a group of our volunteers and it is now a great asset for the village as a whole.
