It's been a strangely good season for chickens on-screen: the pet cockerel in The President's Cake won our hearts, the chicken Talking Heads cover in The Sheep Detectives had us in stitches, and now, the incredible new film Hen, told entirely from the perspective of its avian protagonist, is showing daily at HPPH because we love it 🐔

Hello from the Picture House team! 👋

This photo is from last month, when we were feeling super appreciative of our lamppost and the lovely blossom on our street. It felt like the blossom came and went in a flash. Similarly, excellent new releases can come and go too quickly at times, so don't let this week's pass you by 🌸

Backrooms is the obvious choice for horror fans. Power Ballad is our Pick of the week and is perfect if you're in the mood for something funny and heartwarming. Hen is for everyone looking for something memorably unique, as it's told entirely from the perspective of a hen!

Head to hpph.co.uk for our full programme ✨

This week's is Power Ballad, a film we didn't expect to love as much as we did 🎤

Our Head of Cinema, Wendy, says, “Power Ballad ended up being one of the most fun and heartwarming experiences I have had in the cinema in quite some time. There’s just a lot of charm and charisma, silly jokes and stumbles of conscience and self. It’s a film that has the potential to lift up those on the lookout for some warmth without too much consequence.”

To help support this screening we're excited to be joined by and 'The Futurenauts' and Mark Stevenson for a special live recording of their podcast as part of the screening.

Thanks to  , and for making this screening possible.

🎹 Now Booking - Köln 75 🎹

Keith Jarrett’s legendary performance in 1975 nearly didn’t happen.

Based on a true story, Köln 75 follows the young, driven concert promoter Vera Brandes as she conceives and organizes the event against all odds.

“pleasant and zippy testament to the invisible — often forgotten — alchemy that goes into the making of a masterpiece.“—

Köln 75 opens with us on Friday 5th June and thanks to .lumiere we have a few of these beautiful little booklets promoting the film available for pick up in our cafe.

Happy Birthday once again Daisy, it was so lovely to be part of your celebrations 🥳

We've not got many screenings left - catch it while you can!
