We started a company thanks to Facebook Henley Recommendations free business advertising day. It was all inspired by a talk at The Creative Duck about ideas and executing them💡 a few nights earlier. This advert was our market research. We didn’t have a name or business.

Needless to say, the pricing was way way out. Still remember our first customer 😊. But the response was eight customers contacting us in the first week, so we knew it was a needed and wanted service.

Networking grew the business, recommendations and word of mouth even more. So so many thanks to everyone that has ever mentioned us online or in person. 🙏🥰 🤩

Our secret army, champions and supporters were very much in the once a month meet up at 3FM Henley Business Partnership. A room full of generous and genuine people who wanted us to achieve. 💪

Free advertising in groups on FB became a staple part of Henley Scan. (Yes I do still have a spreadsheet, showing which group to post in when 😂) 📊

We realised very quickly that video and camcorder tapes were a much needed service and we thought more or less all Cine films would have been converted already. (We were very wrong). 😝

SEO and ’Google my business’, again utilising the free options made us known further afield and seen … thanks to One to Three Marketing Solutions and zoom calls during Covid. 🌟

And can you see that it was Graham advertising. I was hiding ☺️😢

What a ride, what a learning curve …. What fun …. What next?

My favourite media. It’s normally quiet (unlike me). This image is me (I never crawled) and Graham’s first day at school. Both taken mid 60s, both then converted onto a VHS in the 90s and then onto a USB stick by us a few years ago.

We will miss our business, mainly our customers, and we have been in discussions regarding selling Henley Scan on. This month especially has shown how much need there is. We nearly sold it last week. But wasn’t to be.

The business flexible, it’s so lovely and has growth potential or just keep a steady earning like we’ve done in recent years. We can train (technically mainly Graham) and there’s a lot of social media that can be reused, as well as the Google reviews, the name and the kudos Henley Scan has generally. 😊and a few software tools has been created in house regarding bulk cropping of photographs and slides. And there’s a variety of equipment. Be in touch, if interested. ☺️

This has been our most popular service. Tapes in many different sizes ranging over three decades in age and many hours of memories and moments. The wedding ones have been popular as anniversary presents and the quality are of an era. Still lovely to see and hear loved ones that were younger or still with us. Editing down the footage afterwards is a project that we’ve also given. Will always have fond memories of Henley Scan and our time in Henley.

That’s a lot of wonderful images. Slides are Graham’s favourite media (he shot with slide film back in the day), all now digitised, with DSLR scanning, 4000 plus dpi (dots per inch), industry gold standard and high resolution. Not forgetting each image then in post scan individually colour and light corrected. We only started detailed analysis of what media we made accessible just over five years ago, so there will have been some more in the years before. Thankyou - we are grateful.
