Remember back in the day, hanging about with your pals, having a laugh, stealing a bunch of sinks... 🥰

Indisputable champ of the bathroom fixture heist genre and the film that launched Bill Forsyth's career, That Sinking Feeling, was made in 1979 on a shoestring budget of just £5,000. Almost 50 years later it remains a hilarious and ingenious debut that helped put Scottish cinema on the map. 📍

🤘 Catch it on the big screen as part of our BFI Rip It Up season, celebrating the intersection of music, fashion and youth counterculture.

Plenty of reasons to be at the cinema this week 🍿

Whether it's the dark comedy about the fate of the earth, with Tom Cruise like you've never seen him. Or two farmers falling out spectacularly over what land is for. Or two boarding school overachievers treating love as a summer project, a GYFF favourite that sold out first time round.

And if none of that lands, there's seven lads from Camden who became one of the best bands Britain ever produced.

Our RIP IT UP season starts here, full throttle 🛵

QUADROPHENIA follows Jimmy, stuck in a dead-end job all week and living for the weekends, when he becomes someone else entirely: sharp suit, Lambretta, and the Mod scene that gave him a place to belong. Built on The Who's 1973 rock opera, it's still the definitive film about youth, style and needing to be part of something.

Join us before the screening for a short talk from C***i Ritchie on mods, music and fashion.
