"A dazzling, late-period jewel" — Little White Lies 🎄

Elsa used to make films. Now she shoots adverts, and a sudden illness has her wondering whether she has one more real story in her. So she starts spending time with her friends again, right as their lives are coming apart, and you find yourself asking a question the film never quite answers: is she here to help them, or to take notes?

Almodóvar has spent forty years turning life into art, his own and everyone else's. BITTER CHRISTMAS is the film where he finally asks what that costs, and who those stories actually belong to.

Glasgow Youth Film Festival returns 25–27 September, with a full weekend of films, Q&As and events programmed by Glasgow Film's 2026 Young Programmers. This year's theme is Carpe Diem: stories about taking chances, embracing change and making the most of it while you can.

We open with SENSE AND SENSIBILITY and a live performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and close with a 35mm screening of DEAD POETS SOCIETY with live music and poetry. In between, the festival is filled with modern classics, brand new films, stunning documentaries, filmmaker Q&As and free industry talks presented in partnership with Into Film.

Can anyone believe it's September already? Same. Fall headfirst into cosy season with our September programme, featuring this year's full Glasgow Youth Film Festival line-up! 🎉

🍿 This year's GYFF programme has been revealed—and it's a corker. Sense and Sensibility, a 35mm print of Dead Poets Society and a special Q&A screening of Sundance gem Extra Geography with its two stars in attendance, and that's just scraping the surface.

"Tarkovsky is the greatest of them all" — Ingmar Bergman 🕯️

Our CineMasters season for September celebrates one of the greatest filmmakers in history. Seven films in a lifetime cut short at 54, and not one of them is like anything else in cinema. We're screening all of Andrei Tarkovsky's features in order, from the young radical of anti-war cinema to the exile grappling with faith, memory and the bomb, with his final two in 4K restorations for the first time.

Tarkovsky's films aren't just seen, they're felt, more like remembering something you never lived. You won't get another chance like this.
