Call for submissions: Castration Movie Zine ✂️

We’re looking for your artwork and writing inspired by louise weard’s Castration Movie and/or to hear your experiences with the films so far, anywhere in the world - link in bio for questionnaires and upload link. Alternatively, DM us or email [email protected] or [email protected].

It’s been just over two years since we world-premiered Castration Movie Anthology I, and with Anthology 3/5 Year of the Hyena coming up this December, we’re curating a new zine focussed on the screenings and audiences so far. If you’ve screened any of the films or attended a screening, we want to hear from you.

The zine is a co-production between Matchbox Cine and TgirlsOnFilm. NB Matchbox Cine are the European distributor of Castration Movie. Louise Weard and the film-making team are not directly involved in the editing of this publication, but a portion of the proceeds go to Louise, as with all Castration Movie screening fees and merchandise generated by Matchbox Cine.

Tomorrow morning, we’re the guests of ***r and to discuss the role of descriptive and inclusive subtitles in the circulation of contemporary q***r cinema.

The LOST IN CASTRATION (MOVIE) roundtable is a complement to Sicilia Q***r’s retrospective, which includes the Italian premiere of Castration Movie Chapter III, all of which will be presented with Italian descriptive / inclusive subtitles, produced in collaboration with SudTitles.

The discussion will reflect on the translation, linguistic, cultural and accessibility challenges posed by radical, multifaceted and non-conformist cinema ✂️

Castration Movie Anthologies I & II in Utrecht

This TDOV, come see a gritty depiction of trans life through the eyes of Louise Weard! We're screening parts i and ii of the Castration anthology in the venue, and the cafe will be available as a chill space to relax and find community.

Alongside the screening at ACU in Utrecht, and .denhaag are organising Castration events on the same day 💜🖤 Donations to support the creator, organisers, and venues are very welcome.

part i, chapter 1: INCEL SUPERMAN follows Turner finding out that life is very unfair, actually.
part ii, chapter 2: TRAPS SWAN PRINCESS shows Michaela as she supports herself and her friends, while navigating marginalised spaces and identities.
part iii, chapter 3: POLYGON!!!! HEARTMODER depicts a tight-knit trans community as it closes ranks and creates an alternative to the horrors of the outside world.
