On the evening of 18 March 2009, 35-year-old chef Claudia Lawrence was captured on CCTV walking home from work in York.

It was the last confirmed sighting of her.

The following morning, she failed to arrive for her shift. Despite her usual route being covered by CCTV cameras, she was never seen again.

No trace. No body. No answers.

Over the years, detectives have investigated countless leads, arrested multiple suspects, and carried out one of the largest missing person investigations in British history. Yet more than 17 years later, the mystery remains unsolved.

Someone knows what happened to Claudia Lawrence. The only thing standing between the truth and justice may be silence.

Ireland's Mysterious Strangled Mother (1993)

On December 16, 1993, 35-year-old Marie Kilmartin, a vulnerable young mother and care worker in Portlaoise, Co. Laois, received a mysterious phone call at her home.

She left shortly afterward and vanished.

Six months later, in June 1994, her body was discovered dumped in a bog drainage ditch near Mountmellick, about 15-16 km away—partially hidden under debris including a cement block and pram.

She had been strangled, with no signs of sexual assault.

The case, involving a possible lure by someone she knew, stays unsolved despite arrests and appeals, haunting her family decades later.

The Cheese Wire Garrote: Aberdeen's Unsolved Taxi Horror (1983)

On the evening of September 29, 1983, 58-year-old Aberdeen taxi driver George Murdoch picked up a young male passenger in his 20s or 30s on Queen's Road.

For unknown reasons, Murdoch diverted his cab onto the dimly lit Pitfodels Station Road on the city's outskirts.

There, the passenger attacked him with a cheese wire garrote, strangling him brutally. Murdoch fought back and briefly escaped the vehicle, but the killer pursued and finished the job on the roadside.

The murder—witnessed in part by two boys on bikes—remains unsolved despite recent DNA breakthroughs.
