🏴 As part of our celebrations of 130 years of cinema in Wales and the This is Welsh Film season, we're delighted to be screening two wonderful Welsh-language films on Saturday 11th July: Patagonia and Effi o Blaenau.
These screenings offer audiences the chance to discover two very different stories that showcase the richness, diversity and cultural strength of Welsh filmmaking. Both films will be screened with English subtitles, making them accessible to Welsh speakers and non-Welsh speakers alike.
Patagonia
Directed by Marc Evans, Patagonia is a visually stunning road movie that connects Wales and Patagonia, exploring identity, belonging and the enduring links between Welsh communities across the world. The film stars Welsh singer Duffy alongside Matthew Rhys, and follows parallel journeys on opposite sides of the Atlantic as it reflects on heritage, language and the meaning of home.
Effi o Blaenau tells the inspiring story of Effie David from Blaenau Ffestiniog, celebrating a remarkable Welsh woman whose determination and resilience left a lasting legacy. Rich in local history and community spirit, the film shines a light on a fascinating Welsh story that deserves to be shared with wider audiences.
