The heart of the film world in Bath, FilmBath (previously Bath Film Festival) is the home of FilmBath Festival, the F-Rating, FilmScore, the IMDb Awards, Pop-up Screenings and more. FilmBath Festival screens an exciting mix of world cinema and UK film previews, filmmaker Q&A sessions and inspiring documentaries. With our F-Rating (https://www.facebook.com/F.Rated.org/) we champion women on screen

and behind the camera. We welcome short film submissions and run awards including the IMDb Script to Screen Award (£5,000 cash prize for the best script for a short film) and the IMDb New Filmmaker Award (£1,000 for the best short film). We also run film-making and animation workshops for adults and young people to support South West film-making talent and we work with schools and universities to foster appreciation of film culture for the future. Our acclaimed Sounds to Silents projects are a potent mix of silent film plus specially-composed live music - we have worked with Will Gregory of Goldfrapp, jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, and pop-art performers The Real Tuesday Weld amongst others. Through the year we invite people to join our FilmClub where we host fascinating films with great guests and an optional supper club. Our mission is to amplify diverse voices on screen and behind the camera.

🎹 100 YEARS OF THE GENERAL 🎬

This October, we’re celebrating a century of one of silent cinema’s greatest comedies with a special screening of Buster Keaton’s The General (1926) as part of Bath Film Festival.

And a silent film deserves to be seen the way it was meant to be heard. 🎶

The screening will be accompanied by live piano from Dominic Irving, bringing Keaton’s spectacular stunts, deadpan comedy and runaway locomotive adventure to life 100 years after it first hit the big screen.

Whether you already love silent cinema or have never seen a Buster Keaton film before, this is a brilliant chance to experience a classic in a completely different way.

Some films stay with you forever. Kes is one of them. 🦅

This September, we’re celebrating legendary local filmmaker Ken Loach’s 90th birthday by bringing one of his most loved films back to the big screen, in a place that has become part of his own story.

A long-time Bath City F.C. supporter and familiar face on the terraces, Ken has spent decades watching football at Twerton Park. On Thursday 10 September, we’ll transform the ground for a special outdoor screening of Kes, with the film playing as the sun goes down and audiences watching from the covered seated stand.

Tender, funny and deeply human, Kes remains every bit as powerful more than 50 years after its release.

This was last year’s Festival Supper Club, and we can’t wait to do it all over again.

This October, we’re teaming up once again with Bath Community Kitchen for a very special screening of Tampopo at BLOC 🍜🎬

Expect film-inspired canapés, Jûzô Itami’s joyous Japanese food classic on the big screen, followed by a shared vegetarian ramen supper. Basically, come hungry.

🎬⚽ Celebrate Ken Loach’s 90th birthday with a very special screening of Kes at Bath City FC! 🎉

For decades, Ken Loach has been a familiar face on the terraces at Twerton Park ⚽ This September, we’re celebrating the legendary local filmmaker’s 90th birthday 🎂 by bringing one of his most celebrated films to the football club he has supported for so many years.

🌅 As the sun sets over Twerton Park, we’ll be screening Kes (1969) outdoors, with audiences watching from the comfort of the covered seated stand.

🦅 Tender, truthful and deeply humane, Kes follows Billy Casper, a teenager growing up in a Yorkshire mining town whose life is transformed when he begins training a kestrel. More than 50 years later, it remains a defining work of British cinema. 🎥

🎬 + ⚽ + ❤️ Film, football and community come together for this one-off celebration of Ken Loach and his extraordinary contribution to British cinema.
