While the Second World War rages, the teenage Mahito, haunted by his mother’s tragic death, is relocated from Tokyo to the serene rural home of his new stepmother Natsuko, a woman who bears a striking resemblance to the boy’s mother. As he tries to adjust, this strange new world grows even stranger following the appearance of a persistent gray heron, who perplexes and bedevils Mahito, dubbing him the “long-awaited one.”

Gloria’s annual summer anime festival returns with a month of beloved Japanese animated films on the big screen. Experience classics and modern masterpieces by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Makoto Shinkai, Mamoru Oshii, Hiromasa Yonebayashi, and Yoshifumu Kondô. All screenings are presented in Japanese with Danish subtitles, except The Boy and the Heron and Pom Poko, which are shown with English subtitles. A perfect chance to revisit timeless favourites or discover them for the first time.

Christopher Nolan's FOLLOWING from 1998 is now playing daily in Gloria until July 15, we hope to see you here ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ )

Ekko has just given the film ★★★★★, saying that "long before OPPENHEIMER, DUNKIRK and INCEPTION, Christopher Nolan followed a lonely young man through the streets of London in a micro budget thriller, where all of his big themes presented themselves for the first time."

Impressive feat for a film that cost only 7.000 pounds (around 60.000 kroner!) to make ✴︎
