The main mission of MIDPOINT Institute is to support writers, directors and producers from Central and Eastern Europe. Thanks to strong partnerships with internati

onal co-production markets, film and series festivals, training programs, national film funds and further audiovisual decision makers, MIDPOINT Institute represents a front-gate to European film and television industry. With its earnest focus on emerging filmmakers from the CEE region, MIDPOINT prides itself as an efficient talent incubator. Projects developed within MIDPOINT Institute are presented at the most established professional industry platforms, accepted to the leading international festivals, commissioned and developed by significant European broadcasters and financiers and its graduates have proven to become an important element in both their local and the international audiovisual ecosystem. Throughout the year, numerous programs are organized - as regular or one-off events. Conceived in 2010, MIDPOINT Institute is realized with the support of Creative Europe - MEDIA sub-programme of the European Union, Czech Film Fund, Ministry of Culture Czech Republic, Slovak Audiovisual Fund and operates under the auspices of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

OPEN LETTER

Thousands of cinema professionals, including prominent directors, authors, actors and industry leaders from across Europe and beyond have come together around this simple but urgent message: Europe needs cinema. Cinema needs Europe.

They have signed an Open Letter calling on the European Commission, the European Parliament and Member States to preserve and reinforce the MEDIA programme as a major instrument of support for European independent cinema.

The open letter celebrates MEDIA's role in promoting cultural diversity, artistic freedom, jobs, innovation and European soft power, and calls for the programme's future to be secured and its resources reinforced.

Three days of a creative lab exploring how environmental and socially impactful themes can be integrated into storytelling.
