Happy to support our friends Trent Hills Public Library in the Book to Film Club! Please spread the word to local readers! And come to see the Odyssey at the Aron Friday, August 28 - Tuesday, September 1.

When it was announced that Christopher Nolan had chosen to bring a screen adaptation of Homer’s ‘The Odyssey’ to life, opinions immediately began to be formed and then shared far and wide via social media. Since the film’s opening, discourse around the movie has only grown. Instead of diving into the dramatic film discourse seas, why not first visit the world of Homer’s epic poem?

The Book to Film club is inviting readers and filmgoers to read Homer’s work, then watch Nolan’s interpretation of ‘The Odyssey’ at the Aron Theatre Co-op, and finally join us at the Campbellford Public Library on August 31 to discuss both. It promises to be an epic discussion! To learn more about the event, email [email protected]

The evening will feature:

Jeff McEnery: Jeff has made multiple appearances at every major Canadian comedy festival including the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, Winnipeg Comedy Festival and Halifax Comedy Festival. He was nominated for "Best Male Stand Up" at the Canadian Comedy Awards and his hour-long Comedy Now! stand up special aired nationally on CTV.

Dom Paré: Described as "one of the best stand-ups around" by NOW Magazine, Dom Paré blends magnetic onstage charisma, hilarious observation, and clever writing to deliver memorable side-splitting comedy. Originally from Ottawa, Dom has toured across Canada and the USA.

Ben Bayfield: Ben graduated from the Humber College Comedy Program in 2022. He was the recipient of the Brian Linehan Comedy Writing and Performance Scholarship for Outstanding Artistic Promise. Ben acted in a short film titled "Sincerely, Yours," winning best indie short at the Venice Short Film Festival.
