The Film Society is an organization formed by enthusiastic students and film viewers who enjoy learning about the art, history and technique of cinema. We are a community committed to the entertainment of film society members through the regular screening of quality films and various film related events. Hello! We invite you to UofC Film Society party and movie trivia night 🍿🍿🍿

Movie trivia will cover a variety of films, and topics of interest in film. This will include questions about popular movies, as well as some more related to film studies and Film Society. We’ve planned to make sure the game will be accessible and fun for casual cinephiles and film students alike.

Guest judge Alan Johnson (hosts film trivia at dickens)

- Thursday March 5 room SS217
- Doors open and food provided at 5:30PM, first round at 6:30PM
- Everyone will be put into teams
- Anyone attending please RSVP at the link in our bio or on our story :)

If you’re not a Film Society member and would like to become one, you can bring $5 cash to the next screening you attend, or to the party, and talk to an exec!

Come to this Friday’s screening+discussion of THE HARDER THEY COME!!

Ivanhoe Martin arrives in Kingston, Jamaica, looking for work and, after some initial struggles, lands a recording contract as a reggae singer. He records his first song, “The Harder They Come,” but after a bitter dispute with a manipulative producer named Hilton, soon finds himself resorting to petty crime in order to pay the bills. He deals ma*****na, kills some abusive cops and earns local folk hero status. Meanwhile, his record is topping the charts.

Come to this week’s screening + discussion of TERRORISM AND KEBAB on Friday!

Ahmed heads to Tahrir compound to extract papers to move his son to another school. There he clashes with the administrative obstacles. He suddenly finds himself involved in carrying a weapon and taking hostages at the government building and becomes a terrorist in the process.

Leonard is tracking down the man who r***d and murdered his wife. The difficulty, however, of locating his wife’s killer is compounded by the fact that he suffers from a rare, untreatable form of memory loss. Although he can recall details of life before his accident, Leonard cannot remember what happened fifteen minutes ago, where he’s going, or why.
