Van 4 tot en met 12 september 2026 verwelkomt onze hoofdstad de 9e editie van het Brussels International Film Festival. Gedurende 9 dagen zetten de organisatoren van het BRIFF hun passievolle missie voort in het hart van Brussel: het brede publiek en filmprofessionals samenbrengen rond de Belgische en internationale cinema.

From 4 to 12 September 2026, our capital will host the 9th edition of the Brussels International Film Festival. For 9 days, the BRIFF team will pursue its inspiring mission in the heart of Brussels: bringing together audiences and film professionals around Belgian and international cinema.

𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗽 𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗝𝗲𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘂𝗿·𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲·𝘀 𝗱𝘂 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗙𝗙 !

Tout au long du festival, des jeunes entre 18 et 25 ans ont plongé au cœur du BRIFF : projections, rencontres avec des cinéastes, interviews, découvertes et surtout… rédaction de critiques.

Accompagné·e·s par le réalisateur et scénariste Louis Kempeneers, iels ont appris à regarder les films autrement, à mettre des mots et des voix sur leurs ressentis et leurs analyses.

𝐶𝑒𝑐𝑖 𝑛’𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑝𝑎𝑠 𝑢𝑛 𝑓𝑖𝑙𝑚 𝑓𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑐̧𝑎𝑖𝑠 de Tom Adjibi, Grand Prix de la Compétition Nationale au BRIFF 2026, est à retrouver cette semaine en salle !

Coup de cœur du Jury et adoré du public, le film de Tom Adjibi livre une réflexion originale et percutante sur les stéréotypes auxquels sont confrontés les acteur·ices racisé·es dans le cinéma européen. Le tout avec une énergie communicative et un humour mordant.

📅 Le 25 septembre à 20h au Ciné 4 (Nivelles) – précédé par un afterwork (18h) autour de courts métrages belges, pour questionner les pratiques du casting et la manière dont les choix de distribution façonnent les représentations à l’écran, organisé par Cinergie.be – avec Adéola Hawna (comédienne)

Presented during the BRIFF 2026, Caroline Strubbe’s trilogy 𝑇𝑟𝑦𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝐹𝑜𝑟𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑅𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 is now screening at Cinema Galeries.

Her trilogy began in 2009 with 𝐿𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑃𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝐴𝑟𝑒𝑎, followed by 𝐼’𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝐼’𝑚 𝑎𝑛 𝑂𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 in 2013. It concludes with 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑖𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑇𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, released in 2025 and part of the National Competition of the BRIFF.

Shot over the course of nearly two decades with the same lead actors, the trilogy explores silence, guilt, memory, and the fragile possibility of forgiveness through the intertwined lives of Tess and Szabolcs.

Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet était au BRIFF pour présenter, en avant-première belge et en séance spéciale, La vie d’une femme.

Avec ce nouveau film, la réalisatrice des Amours d’Anaïs dresse le portrait contemporain d’une femme qui a fait de son métier, de ses responsabilités et de son indépendance le cœur de son existence. Présenté en Compétition officielle au Festival de Cannes 2026, La vie d’une femme est porté par une Léa Drucker tout en finesse, aux côtés de Mélanie Thierry, Charles Berling et Laurent Capelluto.

La projection, présentée en avant-première belge au Palace en présence de la réalisatrice, a été suivie d’un échange avec le public autour du film.

La vie d’une femme est à découvrir dans les salles belges depuis le 16 septembre 2026, distribué par O’Brother Distribution.

Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet joined us at BRIFF for the Belgian premiere of La vie d’une femme, presented as a special screening.

With her latest film, the director of Anaïs in Love paints a sharp, contemporary portrait of a woman who has built her life around her career, her responsibilities and her independence.

Presented in the Official Competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, La vie d’une femme is led by a quietly powerful Léa Drucker, alongside Mélanie Thierry, Charles Berling and Laurent Capelluto.
The screening at the Palace, attended by the director, was followed by a lively conversation with the audience about the film and its themes.

Director Katharina Rivilis joined us at BRIFF to present I’ll Be Gone in June in its Belgian premiere.

Presented in the International Competition, the film marks the filmmaker’s feature debut.

Selected for the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section, I’ll Be Gone in June continued its festival journey at BRIFF, where it received a Special Mention from the Jury.
