The State Cinema is a Hobart icon that has entertained generations of Tasmanians for 100 years, playing a major role in the social and cultural life of the Hobart community. With ten screens plus a Rooftop Cinema and Bar there is always a wide range of local and international films on offer. Less ads and only the choicest selection of trailers means that our features start just five minutes after

the scheduled start time. A large Café Bar serves light meals and you can
take your coffee or glass of local wine in to the screening. Located up Elizabeth Street in vibrant North Hobart,
the State also has a beautiful Bookstore with
a hand-picked selection of stationery, books and gifts. Operating 7 days a week, all year round the State Cinema and Café is open from 9.30am daily, excluding ANZAC Day where the box office opens 5 minutes prior to the first session.
