It's our last weekend at Soho Back Studio! Are you one of those people that have said "awww I always wanted to make it to a Rewind screening" and then don't go to one and then miss all the screenings? Well this weekend is for you!

Wallace & Gromit tomorrow Saturday 17th at 1pm. What a movie. So much fun and so much heart. We love Aardman Animations work so much! Come celebrate their 50th Anniversary with our final screening of their amazing CURSE OF THE WERE RABBIT! One for the whole family.

It's also our final screening of LABYRINTH! We're celebrating it's 40th Anniversary with a special film facts at the end of the screening this Sunday 18th at 12:45pm.

The weekend is also jam packed with brilliant horror films including PSYCHO, SCREAM & AMERICAN PSYCHO on Saturday 17th plus a tasty little Stephen King double feature of CARRIE & CHRISTINE tonight! We thoroughly enjoyed John Carpenter's CHRISTINE. Definitely worth a watch in 4k on the big screen.

And wrapping our Horrorfest program on Sunday 18th with our INDIE/FOREIGN VAMPIRE DAY screenings! We adore these movies. Cannot recommend watching TEETH enough. LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, well... if you haven't seen and are a fan of foreign or vampire movies then whoooowhat are you doooeeeeng? And TEETH at the end as a final chef kiss of Korean romance slash slasher delight.

We get excited about most of the movies we screen at Rewind. But every now and then we select a film that is trés specialé. TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE is one of those films.
Seriously, if you're free tonight, come along at 6:15pm. Ten bucks. It's not that scary, but my gosh some scenes are amazing.
It stars Deborah Harry, very young Christian Slater, Steve Buschemi and Julianne Moore. It's produced by George A. Romero and takes stories from Stephen King, Arthur Conan Doyle and the guy who brought us Beetlejuice.
This movie's a blast.
One night only. And the weather is perfect for it.
You literally will not find this on streaming services anywhere.
A Rewind Cinema exclusive.

We're putting on a pretty special location themed pop-up cinema on the weekend of 23rd to 25th October. We're taking over the Fern Tree Community Hall (not Tavern!) for one weekend of mountain/woods themed horror films! 🏔️🪓

Make the trip up the long windy bends to The Overlook Hotel for a screening of Kubrick's THE SHINING presented in 4K, on Sunday 25th October at 6:30pm.
Tickets $20

The film follows Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson), an aspiring writer and recovering alcoholic, who takes a job as the winter caretaker of the remote Overlook Hotel. Along with his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and young son Danny (Danny Lloyd), who possesses psychic abilities called “the shining,” Jack hopes to find peace and inspiration for his writing. However, the hotel’s malevolent supernatural forces and Jack’s descent into insanity turn their stay into a nightmare.

A big Happy Birthday to our most esteemed team member LEVY!
Levy (pronounced like Stevie: Lee-Vee) has busted her chops and back and been a humongous help at all of our pop-ups, from hoisting theatre seats and bar stock, to stacking fridges and decorating walls for our Grease and Dirty Dancing Movie Parties, along with helping curate our programs, she is also the inventor of our very much loved Hot Chocolate with Maple Syrup Whipped Cream!
Rewind wouldn't be happening without her wonderful touch and smiling face, so say a big happy birthday to her next time you're in for a moofie at Rewind. 💜 🎂

Screening today at the Back Studio, 6 Washington St, South Hobart.

Before there was Labyrinth…there was darkness. Well. No. But there was THE DARK CRYSTAL.

Before Jim Henson and illustrator Brian Froud worked together to create Labyrinth, they created the first live action film without a single human being on screen. Co-directed by Frank Oz (the puppeteer and filmmaker known for the Muppets), THE DARK CRYSTAL gives us masterful world-building, invented language, and complex characters all within the creative confines of puppetry.

In 1986, while Jim Henson and Brian Froud were delivering us LABYRINTH, Frank Oz made remarkable strides in puppetry and practical effects with the horror comedy musical LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.

Come celebrate the 40th anniversaries of these two feats of creativity and enjoy the music of David Bowie and Alan Menken (known for Sister Act, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas…need we go on?) with the first film that brought these creatives together, THE DARK CRYSTAL.

We're currently right in the midst of our spooky October program and one movie we enjoy seeing every time is James Whale’s FRANKENSTEIN, the 1931 masterpiece that gave the movies one of their most enduring monsters ⚡️
There's something about black and white films that are such a pleasure to watch on the big screen.

Obsessed with unlocking the secret of life, the brilliant but reckless Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) robs graves and assembles a body from stolen parts, bringing his creation to life with a bolt of lightning. But the creature (Boris Karloff) is not the mindless monster Henry expected. Rejected and feared by everyone he encounters, he soon becomes the target of a terrified mob.

Screening today, Fri 9th at 4:30pm for $10
FINAL SCREENING: Monday 12th at 6:15pm for $8
