Lido Cinemas is an eight-screen artiplex showing both commercial and new release arthouse films in the heart of Hawthorn’s bustling Glenferrie Road. Lido hosts special events and ensures an intimate and specialised cinematic experience with films that cater for everyone. Possessing a vibrant atmosphere and boutique, individually designed cinemas, Lido’s diverse program of films and events will appeal to the many different tastes of film aficionados in the local area of Hawthorn and of wider Melbourne. Lido’s unique space has lost none of its grandeur since opening in 1912 when it first opened as a cinema. Innovative architect Aidan Halloran has combined the building’s original structural features with contemporary design and technology. Preserving the building’s historic charm has been at the forefront of the design process and we hope you enjoy seeking out the cinema’s gorgeous original features. Lido sees some of the world’s most cutting edge technology, including a 4K projector and Dolby Atmos sound, contrasted beautifully in the historic venue. Lido was the first venue in mainland Australia to have a rooftop screen attached to the cinema.

An enduring masterpiece of cinema starring Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave, Ken Russell's THE DEVILS is a prescient epic of obsession and corruption.

Assembled from the original camera negative, this new 4K restoration presents Ken Russell’s definitive vision of THE DEVILS by referencing the edit he privately constructed in 2004. This is the uncut and unfiltered theatrical experience that Russell always envisioned – and the first time the film will be presented restored and in 4K.

Allow the sensual delights of THE DEVILS to seduce you this Halloween, with screenings daily from 29 October. Tickets are on sale now.

Weave yourself a perfect weekend with our preview screenings of the frisky folktale WICKER, starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård.

On the outskirts of a village by the sea, lives a Fisherwoman (Colman); smelly, single and perpetually ridiculed. One day, fed up with her stuffy, small-minded neighbors, she commissions herself a husband (Skarsgård) to be made from wicker. In an otherwise conservative town, this unconventional romance sparks outrage, jealousy and chaos.

Saturday October 31 and Sunday 1 November. Tickets are on sale now.
