One of the first selections in Full Moon’s Grindhouse collection, this pseudo documentary “reveals” a casting call for director Charles Band’s twisted remake of Cinderella and features a very young Linnea Quigley.

The remake of the 1984 sequel that simply continues the story of the 2006 remake of the original. This one pits a squad of US Army National Guard troops against the mutant cannibalistic cave dwellers.
The film stars Derrick Mears as the mutant, Chameleon. Derrick played Michael Myers in some of the last three Halloween trilogy films with Jamie Lee Curtis.

Since I watched the original and its sequel not long ago, I took in the remake today. This remake was produced by the original director, Wes Craven, and his original producer, Peter Locke. The remake mirrored the original story but took it to different and more disturbing lengths. This featured makeup effects by modern day SFX guru, Greg Nicotero, who also played one of the mutants in the film, Cist. A quite disturbing film on it‘s 20th anniversary.

And so I watched the sequel today that was made 7 years later. Michael Berryman was still a huge part of it even after you were led to believe he didn’t survive the original. Berryman was also the principal of the school in the Motley Crue video, “Smokin’ In The Boys Room”.
This installment was scored by Friday The 13th’s Harry Manfredini and you can hear similar themes throughout. A very cheesy but fun look at 1980’s filmmaking.

Michael Berryman became a horror icon when this film was released and I’d actually never seen it in its entirety until this week. I met Michael last year and we had a nice conversation and he told me since we are brother Masons, he would buy me a drink if we ever ran into one another again.
Wes Craven also became a horror icon after directing this and the earlier “Last House On The Left”.

Starting out the first weekend of 2026 with this cinema absurdity from the collaboration of 1960’s gore pioneers, David F Friedman and Hershel Gordon Lewis. Although there is very little gore in this particular film, it is notable for its contribution to the name of Mike Varney’s dvd company from the 1990’s and 2000’s which released so many packages of double bill 42nd street eclectic and grindhouse films that I made an extensive collection of and am now going to try and experience while I save money this year for my Route 66 trip later this year.
A man gets burned by an electrical wire mishap and realizes it gave him amazing psychic powers but leaves his face horribly disfigured. A witch approaches him and tells him she will give him his looks back if he will be her lover. Although ugly she appears vey attractive to everyone but him.
Something weird, indeed!

A few years ago I sat through and binge watched as many biker trash Grindhouse films as I could find from the era of their popularity in the late 60’s through the 70’s and even into the 80’s. This is known as the drive-in, B-movie, cult and grindhouse era of cinema…..which I have an affinity for. Finding many of these rare and out of print gems is something I enjoy searching for and experiencing for myself.
Having said that, I am embarking on a quest to watch a marathon of women in prison films which is a sub-genre from this time period all by itself. You’d be surprised as to just how many were made and I have collected most of these. I’m starting off with this collaboration of women-in-prison movie trailers from the Full Moon Grindhouse collection. This runs the gamut from black and white films from the 1950’s to mid 80’s 42nd street weirdness. Let’s get out the shackles and hoses as we look into the warden’s closet and see what kind of lunacy we may be either extremely entertained by or extremely nauseated with.
