13th Annual MountainTop Film Festival
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., the 13th annual MountainTop Film Festival offers a diverse program of documentary and dramatic films, addressing social and environmental issues from around
the world. The festival takes place at the Big Picture Theater in Waitsfield VT in the week of January 15-21, 2016. With growing concerns regarding human and civil rights and in a continued effort to make the Vermont community an epicenter of awareness and activism, The MountainTop Film Festival strives to make people’s voices and stories heard through film and discussion to further efforts of education and involvement. Some high-lights of the festival include an opening night reception with live music in the lounge, a Q&A with filmmaker and HipHop artist Che “Rhymefest” Smith after his film IN THE FATHERS HOUSE, the festival hit (T)ERROR presented by its director, a Skype conversation with producer Sally Angel of NIGHT WILL FALL, and a sneak preview of his new work in progress with filmmaker Eugene Jarecki (THE HOUSE I LIVE IN, WHY WE FIGHT, REAGAN). HE NAMED ME MALALA, TAXI TEHERAN, RACING EXTINCTION AND MEDITERRANEA are some of the other films the festival will feature this year.
