I volunteered at the food bank today. It was such a humbling experience, so many wonderful people struggling to put food on their tables. Do you know on average they get 20 new families looking for groceries on the average every time they open their doors. Today it jumped to 70 families. There was a line out the door for at least two and a half hours with no end in sight. Here is the link if you want to volunteer, they could use the help especially with SNAP halting payments

After a year hiatus Bay Area Cinema (pop-up microcinema) is BACk! We kick off our 7th event during the Vallejo Art Walk, Friday, July 11th, 2025 in collaboration with 707 Week happening here in Vallejo. Doors open at 6:30pm show starts at 7pm followed by a Q&A with filmmakers at 8:30pm. This show is special since we are featuring only Vallejo filmmakers, which we celebrate with much pride! Another surprise is that BAC is debuting our new emcee Sara Anders! She is vibrant and a fellow filmmaker excited to help us take BAC to another level. Let’s welcome her to the family! This is a free event, but donations are always welcomed! See you soon!

Great news for those of you who attended Bay Area Cinema #6 in July 2024. The short animated film that was shown, entitled: Peanut Headz Black History Toonz-Jackie Robinson directed by Jason Fleurant was awarded the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Short-Form Animation! Congratulations Jason and his team of talented individuals!!!

Thank you Dr. Kerby Lynch and Sara Speaks for inviting me to show my experimental documentary film, Merav, at the Unfiltered Visions show during the Vallejo Vibez festival. I had prepared some answers to the questions for the panel of filmmakers beforehand. I answered some of the questions tonight but I thought it’d be fun to post my cue cards for folks to get a sense of the lively discussion this evening. Once again thank you for a great show it was a true honor to participate.
