Acclaimed dancer/choreographer Sun Ock Lee is no stranger to the Kaatsbaan stage, having performed and taught at Kaatsbaan in 2001. She is renowned for her extraordinary dances based on mind/body techniques of ancient Zen. Of Dr. Lee's work Anna Kisselgoff of the New York Times wrote "she contributes a view of contemporary dance that is more ceremony than performance and yet one that is totally cr

eative" The evening's program will be ZenDance Form is Emptiness, a multimedia performance commissioned by Maya Dance Theatre in Singapore that combines new music ZenDance techniques and photography. Photography projections are by well-known abstract photographer, Howard Finkelson whose interest in the spiritual and philosophical combines with his extensive travels to form the perfect collaboration with Dr. Lee. The afternoons program will offer audiences excerpts from a number of their recent works including Rendition from Angst Angel Returns and the Where solo from Where-How-Why Trilogy (2012) Angst expounds on the human emotion through four characters from the epic Asian works Ramayana and Mahabharatha. The Where solo is part of a larger work that subtly explores the search for identity and relevance in life and questions continuing on an artistic path.
