In a world driven by test scores, thinking-inside-the box initiatives and just-check-the-box thinking, creative thinking is often discouraged. Our goal is to create an environment where youth can come together to create some amazing art and theatrical productions. We’d like to create a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) program with the emphasis being on the Art portion. We hop
e to offer a series of workshops allowing youth to explore fields such as playwriting and creative writing, fashion and costume design, set and stage design, lighting design and song writing and sound design. We will strive to support youth in the entire theater production from concept development to stage production. Our goal is nurture the imagination in the actor, the singer, the musician, the designer, the writer and the technician so that they may all take ownership of the final product. Our goal isn’t simply to put on a stage production, but rather to create a stage production together. Our hope is that, as our youth discover their creative interests, they will work together to design and build a theatrical production from the ground up with support every step of the way.
