Film is like that of apple-pie. What do I mean by this? Not too long ago digital imaging was the fad. serious photography would not consider digital as viable.
1st, this is not a sales pitch post. For me and my shooting, dr5 is the only thing that makes sense for serious b&w photography. The galleries i submit to can tell the difference, even scanned-to-jpg.
For those who know, I am available still as private processing. I'm doing it for those who still want the 'apple-pie'. It costs what it cost im afraid.. if that doesn't work for you, I totally understand, and no skin off my nose. I'm happy to provide expert suggestions and other options.
If you watched the Nolan piece on his new movie, there is 'one lab' world-wide left that can produce his film, processing.
I was talking to an old lab colleague a few weeks ago who called me for some Chem advice. He told me that his Fuji rep said there were only '20' e6 labs left in N.America. ..and of those 20, ONLY 5 were dip&dunk... wow... All the made.up hype about 'Film coming back' , for whatever reason, it just isn't im afraid.. sad but true.
The best for your future film use is up to you - you will have to consider a DIY option, or something like learning wet-plate, etc... DIY in the end will save you some $$s, but for those not in the know, everything is 5x+ more expensive then 5yrs ago (chemz, water, power, rent, shipping). dw
