Happy New Year’s a little late! 😳😂😂 We had sickness in our household for almost the whole month of December and then we all got Covid in January. 😑 Between that and all the snow days/virtual days due to weather and the omicron surge, I feel like I’m coming out of a fog. Hoping for no sickness for awhile! 🤞🏻 I did not get to do a Christmas card like I wanted ☹️ (see above), but here’s a sketch I did recently of Prairie Pie after falling in love with the photo they posted on Instagram. 😍 Thinking is doing a bigger one with pen and watercolor or colored pencil. Thoughts?

I know it’s been forever since I’ve posted. It’s so challenging for me to make time for art anymore, but I think about it a lot. I’m also starting to realize how much perfectionism keeps me from doing anything. I’ve known about my perfectionistic tendencies for a long time, but I don’t think I knew how far they really go. I’m trying to be more mindful of that.
Anyway, I want to go back to the enjoyment I had when I first started making Christmas cards years and years ago. It’s hard to think about Christmas when we’ve barely even had Fall yet here in Missouri, so I did some Christmas doodles today to get me inspired. Thinking of doing a Christmasy front porch with a customizable name over the front door. Thoughts? What do you love about Christmas?

Anybody get Rockefeller the owl in their stocking for Christmas? Me either. So here you go. 😁 This is my first try at using Procreate and I’m hoping to use it more in 2021. Happy New Year! 🎊

It’s been awhile. I wasn’t sure if I was going to post this or not because my daughter said it had creepy eyes. 😂 This phrase comes from 2 Chronicles 20:12. I remember our pastor quoting this phrase months ago and it has come to mind several times in this season of decision making and preparing for school during Covid-19. In 2 Chronicles chapter 20, King Jehoshaphat learns that several armies were coming together in one huge mass to attack him. So he called for his people to fast and seek God. They all gathered together to pray. Jehoshaphat stood up and prayed with faith that God would intervene, remembering all that God had done for his people in the past. He ended with, “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” God answered, telling them not to be discouraged because the battle would be His and not theirs. God kept His word; the armies ended up destroying each other. While we are not facing what Jehoshaphat and his people faced, we are certainly facing things that we probably never imagined we would have to. Let’s try to keep our eyes on God! ❤️

I think I’m ready to call this one done. I was pretty hesitant to take this illustration of ‘s son and mother past the pencil phase, but I think I’m happy with how the watercolor and colored pencil turned out. 😊

Some more progress on this illustration of ‘s photo. Planning to do ink and color next, but part of me wants to leave it like this. There’s something about pencil sketches I just love and they seem to lose something in the transformation. What do you think? Do you prefer pen and ink or pencil?

I think I'm ready to call this one done. It's about time! I may take a break from my You've Got Mail challenge for awhile to work on another thing or two I've been wanting to do. Hopefully a peek at something new soon!

Finally getting further on this You've Got Mail favorite quotes challenge I made for myself. To be honest, this one has been a struggle for me. I'm still playing with watercolor and colored pencil together and it doesn't always do what I want it do. 😅 So I've been avoiding it. But no more!! Also here's the quote...Tall! Decaf! Cappuccino! 😁

Here's a peek at the next You've Got Mail illustrated quote I've been working on. Any guesses as to what the quote is? 😁...

Happy New Year! I know it's been quite awhile, but man. What a crazy busy holiday season. I am actually looking forward to the slowness that I'm hoping January will offer. In honor of World Introvert Day, here is a drawing I did from a picture of my son (who I don't think is actually an introvert). 😂 But this looks like something an introvert would enjoy doing on World Introvert Day! 😊 I'm trying to decide if I should leave this as is or add pen and watercolor. Thoughts? And I'll get back to my You've Got Mail challenge soon. 😉

I'm ready to call this first piece DONE! This first quote in my challenge to illustrate my favorite quotes from the movie You've Got Mail is definitely my most favorite quote from the movie. What's your favorite quote?
