Hey everyone! I wanted to take a moment to fill everyone in on something cool about our theatre. Recently, Disney released a certification process for movie theatres called Infinity Vision. We have gone through the process and have been certified! If you want to know what that means for you... keep reading π
Without getting too much in the weeds on technology, God knows I can π, Infinity Vision is a certification that says the hardware our theatre uses meets the technology specifications required to showcase the film as it was intended to be experienced. As you may or may not know, not every screen or projector is created equal. TV screens, phone screens, etc. all have different specs that can change the visual aspect of what you are looking at. This also applies to movie theatres. Not all theatres are created equal, there isn't a "movie theatre screen store" where everyone shops and buys the same screen, projector or audio equipment.
So, when a studio creates a film they do so with intention and every detail is taken into account. Down to the color or tone of the film, the way an explosion may sound like it comes from one side of the screen or the other, a lot of really, really technical things that I promised I wouldn't get into. But the point is that if you "the viewer" watches the film on something not designed or not up to spec for the film, then you aren't really getting the FULL EXPERIENCE of the film and you aren't watching it as intended. From a production and theatre perspective this yields a less than ideal experience.
Where this comes into play for us, many of you know and some of you may not, is that we didn't just buy the theatre and upgrade the stuff and call it good. We are continually upgrading our equipment to maximize your experience. With Infinity Vision a theatre needs to have a certain size screen which is larger than the standard β
. It needs to have a 4k laser projector and not a lamp style projector which is more common β
. It needs to have 7.1 Surround Sound vs the more commonly used 5.1 β
. For us, this means we can showcase films as they are intended to be seen; and for you, this means the perfect immersive movie experience.
