100 years of Allen Ginsberg ๐Ÿ“œ Join us this weekend to honor the influential poet, writer, and central founding figure of the Beat Generation. After the film weโ€™ll be joined by David Wills, founder and editor of Beatdom literary journal, for a lecture and discussion exploring how California influenced Ginsberg and the Beat Generation.

After the film and discussion, keep the 100 year celebration of Ginsbergโ€™s birth going with a free glass of w**e at Central Coast Wines. Then at 4:30 head to Sauer Adobe for some free Cool Beat Jazz and open mic poetry!

HOWL (2010)
Itโ€™s San Francisco in 1957, and an American masterpiece is put on trial. Howl, the film, recounts this dark moment using three interwoven threads: the tumultuous life events that led a young Allen Ginsberg to find his true voice as an artist, societyโ€™s reaction (the obscenity trial), and mind-expanding animation that echoes the startling originality of the poem itself. All three coalesce in a genre-bending hybrid that brilliantly captures a pivotal moment-the birth of a counterculture.
